  • Beach club with foldout sea terrace
  • Main deck master suite with terrace
  • Upper saloon with cinema room capability

Design & Construction

Designed around a fast displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 9.6m beam and a 2.75m draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 499 GT (Gross Tonnes).

This was the sixth yacht built on the 500Exp design. Launched in May 2023 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was completed at Sanlorenzo's La Spezia yard in Italy where she was commissioned and delivered to her owners in August 2023.

Exterior Design

Para Bellvm takes the working deck idea at the heart of the Sanlorenzo 500Exp and bends it towards guest use. Francesco Paszkowski kept the model’s forward superstructure, high bow and long quarterdeck, but this is the only 500Exp with an infinity pool built into that aft deck. The pool sits within a 113.5m² (1,222sqft) area that can carry the 8.66m (28.4ft) XO Explorer tender, with a recessed 7.5 tonne crane for launching it.

That gives Para Bellvm quite a different character from the sistership M tested in YachtBuyer’s Sanlorenzo 500Exp review. On M, we found the aft deck working hard as a genuine expedition space, with room for a helicopter, large tenders and even an Icon A5 seaplane. Para Bellvm keeps the same basic load carrying ability, but once the tender is in the water the quarterdeck becomes a huge terrace, with loose furniture, awnings and the pool right at the aft end.

The beach club sits directly underneath, with a bar, shaded seating and a starboard balcony that folds down over the water. A transformer in the swim platform handles access to the sea, so the stern works on two levels without turning the lower deck into the only place guests can get close to the water.

Up forward, the practical side of the 500Exp is still very much intact. Additional toys and a rescue tender can be carried ahead of the bridge, with a separate 500kg telescopic crane, and the anchoring gear occupies the bow. YachtBuyer found the same area on M to be very much a working foredeck, which is useful context here: Para Bellvm has not softened the explorer layout so much that it loses the point of the boat.

The upper deck aft carries dining for ten and another large lounge, while the sun deck adds dining for 12, a bar, sunpads and a second pool. Forward facing observation seating gives guests somewhere to sit looking ahead on passage, a small detail that feels particularly apt on a yacht with 5,400nm of range.

Interior Design

Antonio Citterio gave Para Bellvm an interior that feels far less rugged than the exterior might suggest. Warm timber, light fabrics and curved furniture run through the yacht, with large windows and mirrored details keeping the rooms bright without burying them under decoration.

The main saloon is arranged around a central lounge and bar, with dining farther aft. There is plenty of furniture, but also clear floor space around it, and the large windows remain a major part of the room instead of becoming a backdrop behind cabinets and sofas.

One deck up, the saloon becomes a more relaxed cinema room with sofas, daybeds and a drop down projector screen. Revisions to the standad 500EXP layout during the build included the cinema, custom pool, owner’s terrace, changes to the exterior furniture and a dumbwaiter linking the principal decks.

Accommodation

Para Bellvm has five principal guest cabins, with the owner forward on the main deck and four guest cabins below. The published arrangement is for 10+2 guests, but the layout can stretch further through two convertible rooms.

The owner’s suite includes a king size bed, walk in wardrobe and large forward bathroom, with a private terrace folding out from the starboard side. Next door, the owner’s TV room can become another double cabin with its own en suite and an opening window, giving the owner the choice between more private living space or extra accommodation.

Two VIP cabins on the lower deck have king size beds, while two twin cabins convert to doubles and each carries a Pullman berth. Farther aft, the gym can also become another guest cabin with its own bathroom, which means the yacht can be divided into as many as seven sleeping spaces when required.

Para Bellum also includes accommodations for a professional crew of 9, ensuring top-tier service and maintenance throughout the voyage.

Performance & Capabilities

Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (C32 ACERT) 1,301hp engines running at 1800rpm, motor yacht Para Bellvm is capable of reaching a top speed of 15 knots, and comfortably cruises at 12 knots. With her 78,000 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 5,400 nautical miles at an economic speed of 9 knots.
