The 42m motor yacht Sheergold was delivered to her owners in 1987 by Dutch shipyard Amels. Her interior design and exterior styling comes from the drawing boards of Bannenberg & Rowell, while Diana Yacht Design is responsible for her naval architecture.

Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 8.02m beam and a 2.5m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 387 GT (Gross Tonnes).
The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards.
Exterior Design
Sheergold is a 42m (137.8ft) Amels motor yacht with exterior design by Jon Bannenberg, and the profile leans firmly into classic superyacht proportions. A raked bow leads into a long sheer line, while the canoe stern softens the aft profile and gives the yacht a balanced, traditional shape. The white hull and superstructure sit above a dark boot stripe and underwater section, which sharpens the lines and adds contrast.
The steel hull and aluminium superstructure give a solid displacement platform, while teak decks run throughout and add grip as well as warmth underfoot. Full walkaround decks on both main and upper levels improve movement around the yacht, so access between exterior areas and interior spaces stays direct and practical.
The upper deck layout places tenders forward, which clears the aft section for guest use. This creates a broad open deck with a semicircular seating area and central table, set up for relaxed dining or drinks while underway or at anchor. The arrangement also keeps views open across the stern, which suits the yacht’s long-range cruising role.
At water level, toys and modular platforms allow a flexible beach setup, even without a fixed beach club structure.
Interior Design
Inside, Jon Bannenberg’s design carries a consistent theme built around curved forms and patterned woodwork. Chevron timber detailing runs through the main living areas and corridors, while white and blue leather upholstery keeps the palette light and controlled.
The main saloon sits aft on the main deck and connects to the exterior through large openings, while sliding doors separate it from the dining area forward. This allows the space to shift between open-plan and more formal use as needed. The dining area spans the full beam and benefits from large side windows, so natural light reaches deep into the room.
On the upper deck, a smaller saloon provides a more informal setting, positioned close to the aft deck so it works well for breakfast or quieter moments during the day. The layout keeps circulation simple, and the styling avoids heavy decoration, so the focus stays on space, light and material quality.
Accommodation
Sheergold accommodates up to eight guests across four cabins, with a layout that prioritises volume on the main deck.
The owner’s suite sits forward on the main deck and uses the full beam, with a king-size bed, large windows on both sides and a bathroom that includes a Jacuzzi and separate shower. The position gives strong views out and a sense of separation from the guest cabins below.
On the lower deck, the VIP cabin also spans the full beam and includes a seating area, desk and large ensuite, so it works as a second principal cabin. Two further twin cabins complete the guest layout, each with private bathrooms, which keeps the arrangement practical for mixed groups.
Crew accommodation is arranged for nine across five cabins, with the captain’s cabin able to convert for supernumeraries if required.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (D3508 DI-TA) 775hp engines, motor yacht Sheergold is capable of reaching a top speed of 13 knots, and comfortably cruises at 11 knots. With her 46,000 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 4,146 nautical miles at an economic speed of 10 knots.
