Design & Construction

Designed around a planing GRP hull and superstructure she features a 7.12m beam and a 1.3m draft. The yacht is built over 2 decks with an internal volume of 184 GT (Gross Tonnes).

This was the twenty-fifth yacht built on the Mangusta 108 design.

Exterior Design

Few production superyachts have a silhouette that remains instantly recognisable decades after launch. The Mangusta 108 is one of them. Introduced at the turn of the century, it became the yacht that defined the Maxi Open category, proving that a 33.5m (109.9ft) performance yacht could deliver genuine superyacht accommodation while maintaining speeds well above 35 knots. Matador, launched in 2008 as Hercules I, is one of the later examples of the series and captures the model at the height of its success.

Stefano Righini's exterior has aged remarkably well. The profile sits exceptionally low against the water, beginning with a long foredeck before flowing into a deeply raked windscreen and a sweeping coachroof that appears to form a single continuous line from bow to mast. Large horizontal windows stretch through the superstructure, visually lengthening the yacht, while the broad aft haunches conceal the tender garages and give the stern the muscular stance that became a Mangusta signature.

The low profile disguises a surprisingly practical deck arrangement. A large sunpad dominates the foredeck, where a removable awning creates a private lounging area at anchor. Aft, the cockpit centres around a heated spa pool that converts into an oversized sunpad when covered, surrounded by generous seating and an alfresco dining table for eight. The arrangement reflects the philosophy that made the Mangusta 108 so successful. Every major outdoor space sits on one level, allowing guests to move naturally between sunbathing, dining and swimming without the interruptions of multiple decks.

One of the yacht's defining features lies overhead. The vast electrically operated sunroof opens much of the saloon to the sky, transforming what appears to be an enclosed deckhouse into an open-air living space. Combined with the wide aft opening, it creates continuous ventilation through the main deck while preserving the sleek roofline that defines the yacht's profile.

Interior Design

The Rodriguez Group interior is unmistakably a product of its era, yet it remains entirely appropriate aboard a yacht whose reputation was built on effortless Mediterranean cruising. Rich gloss timber, polished joinery and warm neutral furnishings create an atmosphere that feels substantial without becoming formal, reflecting the confidence of late-2000s Italian yacht design.

The main saloon demonstrates one of the Mangusta 108's cleverest design solutions. Although the exterior profile appears exceptionally low, the sole sits deep within the hull, creating generous headroom while preserving the yacht's sleek silhouette outside. Long side windows keep the horizon in view even when seated, and when the immense sliding sunroof retracts, natural light floods the entire deck. Together with the open aft cockpit, the effect is closer to a covered terrace than a conventional enclosed saloon.

The helm occupies the forward end of the same space instead of being separated onto its own deck, allowing the captain to remain part of the social atmosphere while underway. Behind, generous lounge seating flows into a formal dining area, creating one continuous entertaining space that can change character completely depending on whether the roof is open or closed.

Accommodation

Matador accommodates up to nine guests across four cabins, including a full-beam owner's suite, two double cabins and a twin with an additional Pullman berth. Crew accommodation allows for up to five crew.

The full-beam owner's suite makes excellent use of the yacht's 7.12m (23.4ft) beam, providing significantly more floor area than many contemporary performance yachts of similar length. Large hull windows introduce natural light, while the arrangement allows space for generous wardrobes, seating and an ensuite bathroom without compromising circulation.

Performance & Capabilities

Matador is powered by twin 2,735hp MTU 12V 4000 M90 diesel engines driving Kongsberg Kamewa waterjets, a propulsion package that helped define the Mangusta 108 as one of the fastest production superyachts of its generation. Together they deliver a top speed of 37 knots and a fast cruising speed of 32 knots, allowing the yacht to cover significant distances in a single day while maintaining the effortless character expected of a Maxi Open.

Unlike conventional shaft-driven installations, the Kamewa waterjets use high-pressure water thrust. The arrangement reduces underwater drag and vibration while giving Matador a shallow 1.3m (4.3ft) draft and exceptional manoeuvrability in confined marinas and shallow cruising grounds.

Her lightweight GRP planing hull complements this propulsion system, allowing the yacht to rise onto the plane quickly and maintain high cruising speeds with stability and control. With 14,000L (3,698 US gal) of fuel on board, Matador has a maximum range of 461 nautical miles at 32 knots, making her well suited to fast cruising between Mediterranean destinations or island groups.

Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort and underwater lights will turn plenty of heads when the sun goes down. Matador also features a deck jacuzzi for cooling off.
