Built on the proven Viking 64 Convertible hull, the new Viking Yachts model expands the company’s enclosed express-style range with a stronger focus on helm visibility, cruising flexibility, and offshore performance.
Sea Trials Mark Major Step for Viking’s Largest Sport Coupe
Hull No. 1 of the Viking 64 SC returned from sea trials in late April with Viking Design Manager David Wilson and Naval Architect Joe Snodgrass onboard to evaluate ride quality, handling, speed, and visibility from the lower helm station.
Powered by MAN 1650 engines, the new sportfisher yacht reportedly reached around 40 knots while maintaining a cruising speed near 35 knots. Wilson also noted the performance of the ZipWake trim control system, which automatically controlled the yacht’s running attitude throughout testing.
This was a big milestone for us... until now, our largest Sport Coupe was a 54. We were anxious to run a Sport Coupe of this size and see how it felt from the helm. Visibility is always paramount on a lower station boat, and everything checked out well.”

Viking Yachts
The 64 SC builds on Viking’s Sport Coupe series, which began with the 52 Sport Yacht in 2006, and was developed in response to demand for a larger enclosed platform suited to both offshore fishing and long-range cruising. Rather than creating a new hull from scratch, Viking based the sportsfisher yacht on its proven 64 Convertible running surface, pairing familiar offshore capability with a sleeker coupe profile defined by sweeping glazing, a long foredeck, and a mullion-free windshield designed to maximize helm visibility.
Cruising Layout With Tournament Capability
Hull No. 1 has been configured around seasonal cruising plans between the Great Lakes, Florida, and the Bahamas. The sportfisher boat uses the galley-down arrangement, opening the command deck into a larger social space with an L-shaped lounge and dinette. In this layout, the boat features three staterooms and three heads.
The command deck acts as the primary entertaining area on board the motor yacht, centered around the raised helm, companion seating, and an entertainment unit with a pop-up television and icemaker
Despite the cruising-focused layout, the cockpit retains much of Viking’s sportfishing DNA. The arrangement of the yacht closely mirrors the 64 Convertible, featuring fish boxes, refrigerated storage, bait freezers, engineroom access, and a deeper mezzanine inspired by the Viking 82.
Several owner-requested details were also added to Hull No. 1, including a bow rail, swim platform, and stern thruster to support easier handling during extended cruising programs. At 63ft 7in (19.39m) overall with a beam of 18ft 10in (5.75m), the 64 SC carries 1,830 gallons of fuel as standard and offers optional power packages from MAN, MTU, and Caterpillar.
How the 64 SC Expands Viking’s Coupe Range
Until now, the Viking 54SC had represented the upper end of the builder’s Sport Coupe lineup. At 54ft (16.61m), the smaller model established much of the formula now expanded aboard the 64 SC - an enclosed command deck linked directly to the cockpit, strong offshore performance, and tournament-ready fishing capability paired with cruising comfort.
The 54SC features a 154-square-foot cockpit with mezzanine seating, fish boxes, live wells, and optional Seakeeper stabilization, while its raised centerline helm was designed around clear visibility and integrated electronics. Like the new 64 SC, the coupe boat balances serious offshore capability with a more social onboard layout centered around the command deck.
The new 64 SC takes that concept into a significantly larger category, adding greater accommodation flexibility, more volume, and increased range potential while retaining the same core focus on visibility, performance, and fishability that shaped the earlier 54SC platform.
