The award winning 49.8m motor yacht Ela was delivered to her owners in 2021 by Dutch shipyard Heesen. The yacht's exteriors have been penned by Omega Architects, while Cristiano Gatto Design has designed her interiors.

Key Features

  • On deck jacuzzi
  • Transformer platform at stern
  • Tender bay converts to outdoor cinema
  • Modern design with plumb bow

Design & Construction

Designed around a fast displacement aluminium hull and superstructure she features a 9.1m beam and a 2.15m draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 499 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Construction started in late 2018 with the keel laid under the project name 'Altea'. Launched in February 2021 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in July 2021.

Exterior Design

Ela is a 50-metre (164ft) aluminium superyacht from Heesen Yachts, delivered in 2021. Her exterior showcases Heesen’s hallmark styling, with a striking plumb bow and sleek lines that give her a distinctive, modern profile. Large sections of glass sweep across her superstructure, flooding the interior with natural light and providing uninterrupted views of the sea. The yacht’s chic, light aesthetic is part of Heesen’s 50-metre aluminium FDHF (fast displacement hull form) series - a design that marries style and performance. The hull is engineered for efficiency, making Ela capable of graceful, fuel-conscious cruising across the water.

At the stern, Ela features a Transformer platform - a clever, multi-purpose space that can be raised as a diving platform, lowered to form a sea-level lounge, or configured to suit various water activities. Integrated steps connect the swim platform, while the expansive aft deck includes freestanding seating and a large circular dining table, designed to make the most of the yacht’s full beam.

The foredeck is a blend of functionality and relaxation, housing personal watercraft and a tender, launched via a dedicated crane. Without a stern garage, this forward location becomes a practical storage area, freeing up space elsewhere. The sun deck is designed for laid-back days in the sun, offering a large hot tub, gym equipment, lounge chairs, and a bar with custom stainless-steel tables that can raise and join together for an alfresco dining area.

Access across the decks is easy, with side decks wrapping around and merging naturally into each outdoor space. Additional stairs link the aft deck, bridge deck, and sun deck for easy flow throughout the yacht.

Ela’s profile is a masterclass in modern design, blending sleek lines with glass expanses.

Interior Design

The interior of Ela is a study in warm, modern elegance, combining simplicity with richness. Christian Gatto’s design features a harmonious blend of Canaletto walnut and dark-tinted walnut, softened by Novasuede and leather finishes. The result is a calm, tactile environment that enhances, rather than distracts from, the ocean views.

Bespoke pieces are a hallmark of Ela's design, with furniture crafted by Heesen’s in-house team. Each item, from the custom tables with crackle lacquer and colour-changing onyx inlays to the chaise longue by Promemoria, is tailored for the yacht. Loro Piana fabrics add a touch of refinement, while embossed leather wall panels and travertine details in the bathrooms and sauna elevate the luxurious feel.

The main salon, accessed via power doors, flows into the dining area and features floor-to-ceiling windows that invite the outside in. A custom dining table by Gatto anchors the space, and a dumbwaiter discreetly links the galley and dining area. The galley itself is well-equipped, with cold storage along the walls, a direct connection to the dining room, and easy crew access to the service areas.

The sky lounge offers a relaxed space for entertaining, with a bar, large sofa, and a TV mounted on the wall. Vertical windows in the bridge provide commanding views from the helm station, which features side access doors, a bench seat, and state-of-the-art navigation systems. A captain’s cabin is conveniently located nearby.

The gym on the lower deck is another standout space, offering bikes, cardio machines, and open floor space for workouts. A sauna, shower, and day head sit adjacent, creating a wellness area that’s rare for a yacht of this size. The gym connects directly to the guest cabins, ensuring privacy while providing easy access.

Accommodation

Ela accommodates up to 14 guests across six cabins, designed to offer both luxury and flexibility. The main deck owner’s suite is a full-beam sanctuary, featuring floor-to-ceiling windows, plush furnishings, and a serene palette that reflects the yacht’s relaxed elegance. The suite also includes a double office space with sliding pocket doors, bespoke furnishings, and two separate walk-in wardrobes. The ensuite is spacious, with a double vanity, a large shower with benches on both sides, and a separate toilet and bidet.

The lower deck holds the VIP suite at the forward end, which is a standout space featuring a serene colour palette, a generous ensuite with a tub and shower, and elegant stone finishes on the vanity and floor. Two double cabins and two twin cabins (each with Pullman berths) complete the guest layout, all with well-appointed ensuites and mirrored layouts for a balanced feel. The twin cabins’ Pullman berths bring the total guest capacity to 14, making the yacht well-suited for larger parties without compromising comfort.

Crew accommodation is thoughtfully arranged for nine, with functional and private spaces that ensure smooth operations behind the scenes. The crew quarters include a chief engineer’s cabin and dedicated service areas, supporting the yacht’s high level of hospitality.

Performance & Capabilities

Powered by twin diesel MTU (12V 2000 M72) 12-cylinder 1,448hp engines running at 2300rpm, motor yacht Ela is capable of reaching a top speed of 19 knots, and comfortably cruises at 14 knots. With her 45,000 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 3,750 nautical miles at 12 knots. She has been fitted with stabilizers to increase on-board comfort when the yacht is at anchor, particularly in rough waters.
