Design & Construction
Designed around a planing GRP hull and superstructure she features a 7.5m beam and a 1.6m draft. The yacht is built over 2 decks with an internal volume of 218 GT (Gross Tonnes).
This was the second yacht built on the AB 116 design.
Exterior Design
Five Waves is a 36m (118.1ft) AB Yachts AB 116 with a deep-V planing hull and waterjet propulsion, built for speed first. The low, stretched profile sits close to the water, with a long sweep of dark glazing through the superstructure and a metallic gold finish that sets it apart straight away. The bow is fine and raked, while the aft sections stay broad to support high-speed stability.
Deck space is spread across three main zones. The aft deck links directly to a large swim platform, with a garage hidden beneath that holds a tender and two jet skis. The platform lifts to reveal the space, so launching stays quick and clean. Above, the bridge deck and compact flybridge add another layer of outdoor seating, while the sundeck includes a jacuzzi set into a sunpad zone.
Forward, the bow works as a second lounge with U-shaped seating and sunpads, plus storage and handling gear for a jet ski with a crane. Side decks are deep and well protected, which matters at speed. The overall layout keeps movement simple, with direct routes between helm positions, lounge areas, and water access.
Interior Design
The main salon follows a clean, open-plan layout. Large side windows bring in light, while dark wood joinery and pale flooring keep contrast under control. Seating sits aft in a loose lounge arrangement, and the dining area for up to 10 guests is set forward, close to side deck access for service.
The styling stays modern but restrained. Dark timber panels, neutral carpets, and simple furniture shapes keep the space calm, with small colour accents in soft furnishings. Nothing feels overworked, and the layout prioritises usable floor space.
The galley sits close to the crew area and is fitted with Miele appliances, laid out for fast service. Forward, the helm is set up with five integrated screens, joystick control, and throttle levers, with a second control station on the flybridge. The setup reflects the yacht’s performance focus, with systems kept direct and easy to manage.
Accommodation
Five Waves accommodates up to 11 guests across six staterooms. Among these, the owner's suite is a full-beam room located at the aft of the yacht. This suite includes a king-sized bed, a settee, ample storage, and large windows that provide natural light, which can be covered for privacy. The suite is equipped with two separate ensuite facilities, each featuring stand-up showers, vanities, and a toilet with a bidet.
In addition to the owner's suite, the yacht has additional cabins that provide a mix of twin and single bed arrangements. These guest cabins are also accompanied by ensuite facilities, which include rainfall showers and toilets. Thoughtful touches, such as automatic lighting in the closets, enhance the guest experience.
For the crew, Five Waves accommodates up to six members in three dedicated cabins. The crew area includes a shared head with shower facilities and a crew mess adjacent to the galley, offering practical and convenient living arrangements while maintaining a high standard of finish.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by 3 x diesel MTU (16V2000 M93) 2,400hp engines, motor yacht Five Waves is capable of reaching a top speed of 40 knots, and comfortably cruises at 33 knots. With her 15,000 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 461 nautical miles. Her planing hull design means she is fast and efficient as she slices through the water.
Amenities
In addition, a swim platform is on hand for guests looking to cool off in the sea. Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort and underwater lights will turn plenty of heads when the sun goes down. The sundeck is the social hub of the yacht, with a deck jacuzzi for cooling off and an inviting spread of sunpads.
