Design & Construction
Designed around a planing GRP hull and superstructure she features a 7.06m beam and a 1.9m draft. The yacht is built over 2 decks with an internal volume of 180 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Construction started in late 2019. She was completed at Sanlorenzo's Viareggio yard in Italy where she was commissioned and delivered to her owners in January 2021.
Exterior Design
The 31.1m (102ft) Sanlorenzo SL102A MAREA is built around the concept of the SL Asymmetric series. Designed by Zuccon International Project, the yacht rethinks the traditional side-deck arrangement by removing the port-side passage on the main deck and shifting circulation higher into the superstructure. The change frees up more than 10 square metres of additional interior volume while keeping the yacht’s exterior profile balanced and visually clean.
From a distance, the asymmetry is difficult to detect. Zuccon disguises the layout through careful use of glazing, parapet lines and superstructure detailing, so the yacht still carries the restrained, elegant proportions associated with Sanlorenzo. Long horizontal windows stretch across the profile while dark glazing contrasts against the white GRP hull and superstructure, helping reduce the yacht’s visual mass.
The exterior architecture focuses heavily on openness and natural light. Full-height glazing dominates the main deck while the fold-down terrace to starboard extends the saloon directly over the water. When opened, the terrace changes the atmosphere of the entire main deck and creates a stronger indoor-outdoor connection than a conventional side deck arrangement allows.
Outdoor living spaces are distributed across several levels. The aft cockpit provides shaded dining around a hi-low table with additional loose seating and direct access to the hydraulic swim platform below. At water level, the opening stern and tender garage create a practical beach club arrangement for swimming and toy access.
Forward, the foredeck becomes a private terrace space with sunpads, curved seating and removable awnings. Access from the owner’s suite adds a more residential feel to the arrangement and gives the main deck cabin a level of privacy unusual for a yacht in this category.
The flybridge acts as MAREA’s primary outdoor entertaining deck. A carbon hardtop with retractable roof covers the central section while a Boffi bar, Teppanyaki grill, dining area, loungers and cocktail seating turn the space into a complete open-air lounge. The profile remains low and streamlined despite the substantial upper deck volume, helped by the integrated mast structure and carefully tapered superstructure lines.
Interior Design
The interior of MAREA continues the contemporary approach established by the exterior architecture. Zuccon International Project uses pale finishes, layered textures and understated detailing to create a calmer, more residential atmosphere throughout the yacht.
Brushed oak wall panels with horizontal grain patterns combine with Tabu ash cabinetry, marble detailing and soft neutral furnishings. The result feels modern without becoming cold or minimal. Indirect lighting and large window sections help soften the geometry of the interior spaces while maintaining strong natural light throughout the day.
The asymmetric layout has its greatest impact inside the main saloon. Without the traditional portside walkway, the room extends almost the full beam of the yacht, creating noticeably wider lounge and dining areas. Floor-to-ceiling glazing and the fold-down side terrace reinforce the sense of openness while keeping uninterrupted sea views visible from nearly every angle within the saloon.
The social arrangement combines a relaxed lounge area furnished with Minotti seating alongside a formal dining table for up to 10 guests. Sliding doors aft connect directly with the cockpit dining area, helping the entire aft section of the yacht operate as one continuous entertaining space.
MAREA carries a particularly high specification throughout. Electric blinds and curtains, integrated Crestron controls, Gold audio-video systems, Samsung displays, Denon receivers and Bowers & Wilkins speakers are fitted across guest areas and exterior decks. The owner’s suite also conceals a television behind a mirror to maintain the cleaner architectural look when not in use.
Accommodation
MAREA accommodates up to 10 guests across five ensuite cabins with a layout centred around the full-beam owner’s suite on the main deck. Positioned forward, the suite benefits from oversized glazing, an opening portside window and direct private access to the foredeck terrace.
The owner’s cabin includes a king-size bed, office space with custom desk, walk-in dressing room and a large ensuite finished in Silk Georgette marble with underfloor heating, separate shower and enclosed toilet compartment. Parquet flooring and additional indirect lighting help distinguish the suite from the lower guest accommodation.
Four guest cabins are positioned on the lower deck and comprise two VIP doubles, one additional double cabin and one twin cabin with sliding bed conversion system. All guest cabins are ensuite and continue the same restrained material palette used throughout the yacht, combining pale oak finishes, Santushi Shell carpeting and marble bathrooms with custom sinks.
Crew accommodation supports up to six crew across three cabins plus a captain’s cabin. The crew area includes a separate mess, dedicated laundry equipment and a fully equipped galley fitted with Miele, Gaggenau and Siemens appliances.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by twin diesel MTU (16V 2000 M96) 16-cylinder 2,434hp engines, motor yacht Marea is capable of reaching a top speed of 27 knots, and comfortably cruises at 20 knots. With her 12,100 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 1,350 nautical miles at 10 knots. Her planing hull design means she is fast and efficient as she slices through the water.
