Constance is a 46.33m motor yacht for sale delivered by Dutch shipyard Feadship in 1986. Her naval architecture and exterior design comes from the drawing boards of De Voogt, while Glade Johnson Design is responsible for her interior design.

Key Features

  • 1986 Feadship pedigree
  • 4,500nm range
  • Main deck owner’s suite
  • Zero speed stabilisers

Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 8.6m beam and a 3.1m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 418 GT (Gross Tonnes).

The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards.

Exterior Design

Constance has a long sheer line, fine bow, low superstructure and none of the visual bulk that arrived with later generations of 45m yachts. De Voogt Naval Architects drew the exterior for her 1986 launch as Paminusch, and even after several major refits the basic proportions remain intact.

The most important work happened at Pendennis between 2015 and 2016, when the yacht underwent an 18 month rebuild that tackled far more than cosmetics. New teak was laid across the decks, two new deck cranes were installed, the topsides and superstructure were repainted, and structural work was carried out to bring the yacht up to modern offshore cruising requirements. Additional watertight subdivision was added for damage stability, one of several changes that took Constance from a yacht limited to shorter range use to MCA Large Yacht Code compliance for unrestricted service.

Her exterior layout is still refreshingly simple. The main deck aft is used for dining and seating, the upper deck carries another large open area that can handle tenders, toys or guest furniture, and the sun deck gives over most of its space to lounging, a bar and hot tub. The GA shows how little of the yacht is wasted on elaborate exterior architecture, with long clear deck runs and fairly straightforward circulation from bow to stern.

A second nine month Pendennis refit completed in 2021 dealt with the sort of work that matters on a steel yacht of this age: corrosion treatment, local fairing, repairs to steel and aluminium, a complete underwater blast and repaint, plus service work to shafts, stabilisers, thruster, cranes, windlass and passerelle. The result is a 1980s Feadship that has kept its original shape while being repeatedly brought back up to scratch underneath it.

Lovingly refit to an incredibly high standard, Feadship superyacht CONSTANCE offers a wholly unique charter experience

Interior Design

Constance’s interior has evolved without losing the warmth of the original Glade Johnson design. Pendennis removed, restored and reinstated much of the existing woodwork during the 2015 to 2016 rebuild, so the yacht still has the feel of a classic Feadship inside instead of a completely new interior dropped into an old hull.

The main saloon uses warm timber, pale upholstery and blue and coral accents, with a formal dining area forward for eight behind a room divider. It is a fairly traditional layout, but there is nothing awkward about that on a yacht of this vintage. The spaces are clearly defined, the proportions are generous, and the large windows do a good job of keeping the rooms bright.

One deck up, the upper saloon follows the same character but is more relaxed, with a bar and direct access to the upper deck outside. That gives Constance two genuinely useful indoor living rooms without trying to make either one do everything.

The crew side of the yacht was rebuilt much more comprehensively during the Pendennis work. The galley, laundry and crew accommodation were taken apart and modernised, with new service equipment and built in furniture added throughout.

Accommodation

Constance accommodates 10 guests in five cabins in the normal layout, with two Pullman berths allowing the total to rise to 12 when required. Crew accommodation is arranged for up to 9.

The owner’s suite sits forward on the main deck and includes a sofa, desk and en suite bathroom, with enough separation from the guest areas aft to feel properly private. Four further cabins sit on the lower deck, including three doubles and a twin, with the Pullmans adding some flexibility for families or mixed groups.

Performance & Capabilities

Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (C32) 900hp engines, motor yacht Constance is capable of reaching a top speed of 14 knots, and comfortably cruises at 12 knots. With her 51,000 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 4,500 nautical miles at an economic speed of 10 knots.

Amenities

Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort. Constance also features deck jacuzzi which provides excellent views.
