More Details

Delivered in 2004, Somewhere in Time is a 23.78m motor yacht for sale built by American shipyard Ocean Alexander. Her exterior design comes from the drawing boards of Ed Monk Jr., while Ed Monk Jr. is responsible for her naval architecture.

Key Features

  • Tri-deck layout at 24m
  • Portuguese bridge walkaround
  • Country kitchen main deck
  • Full-beam owner’s cabin

Design & Construction

Designed around a semi-planing GRP hull and superstructure she features a 6.4m beam and a 1.57m draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 116 GT (Gross Tonnes).

This was the third yacht built on the 78 Motoryacht design.

Exterior Design

Somewhere in Time carries her volume well on deck, with full walkaround side decks and a proper Portuguese bridge giving safe, continuous circulation forward. For a 24m (78ft) yacht, the sense of scale is notable. The cockpit is deep and sheltered, with direct access down to the crew area and engine room, keeping service routes out of guest spaces.

Above, the boat deck doubles as a versatile outdoor area. Chocks and a crane handle tender duties, while the remaining space works just as well for loose furniture or sun loungers. A ladder links straight back down to the cockpit, reinforcing the practical, yacht-like deck flow.

Forward, the bow is properly set up for use, with sunpads, deck lockers, and discreetly arranged anchoring gear. The Portuguese bridge wraps around the pilothouse, allowing crew to step outside during manoeuvres without leaving the helm area.

Interior Design

The interior reflects early-2000s Ocean Alexander thinking, with solid wood joinery, warm tones, and an emphasis on space rather than trend-led finishes. While clearly of its era, the execution suits the yacht’s character and feels coherent throughout.

The main saloon is open and generous, with room for freestanding dining if desired. The current owner removed the table in favour of open floor space, which works well and reinforces the yacht’s big-boat feel. Large windows and sensible furniture proportions prevent the space from feeling enclosed.

Forward, the country kitchen layout is a defining feature. The galley, dinette, and bar are combined into one sociable space that feels more like a family yacht than a formal motoryacht. It is practical, welcoming, and well suited to owner use rather than charter formality.

Up on the bridge deck, the enclosed skylounge doubles as a secondary saloon. Wood detailing, a day head, refrigeration, and easy access to the aft deck make this a genuinely usable living space rather than an afterthought.

The enclosed pilothouse is a major differentiator. This is a true working bridge, and visibility is excellent, aided by the Portuguese bridge and side doors. The helm is equipped with multi-function displays, FLIR, camera systems, bow and stern thrusters, and a yacht controller that allows remote engine and thruster control during docking. A large traditional wheel reinforces the sense of a proper ship rather than a scaled-up cruiser.

Accommodation

Somewhere in Time has a four-cabin layout, which is unusual for this length and a clear strength of the boat.

Forward is a generous VIP cabin with good headroom, storage, and a large ensuite with a proper shower. Amidships are two guest cabins, one double and one twin, linked by a shared arrangement that allows flexible use depending on guests or family configuration.

Aft, the full-beam owner’s cabin is the standout. For a 24m yacht, the space is impressive, with a large berth, seating, extensive storage, and a walk-in wardrobe. The ensuite spans the width of the cabin and includes twin basins, a separate toilet compartment, and a large shower.

Crew accommodation is separated, with a twin crew cabin, dedicated head and shower, and additional service spaces. Access is available both internally and directly from the cockpit.

Performance & Capabilities

Powered by twin diesel MTU (12V 2000 M91) 1,500hp engines, motor yacht Somewhere in Time is capable of reaching a top speed of 20 knots, and comfortably cruises at 14 knots.
