Design & Construction
Designed around a semi-displacement GRP hull and superstructure she features a 26'3" beam and a 9'2" draft. The yacht is built over 2 decks with an internal volume of 270 GT (Gross Tonnes).
This was the first yacht built on the SX120 design.
Exterior Design
At 37m (121.4ft) and 270GT, the Sanlorenzo SX120/01 is the largest model in the builder’s crossover range. This is Hull 1 of the series, and it presents a striking balance between explorer capability and flybridge-style living. Exterior styling leans toward the architectural, with clean lines, horizontal glazing, and a minimal superstructure keeping the profile sleek and grounded. The composite hull supports a reduced engine footprint thanks to Volvo Penta’s IPS Professional Platform, opening up internal volume and reducing environmental impact.
At the stern, the yacht features a broad open beach club, extending from 40 sqm to 70 sqm via fold-down side terraces. Teak decking runs across the space, and a pop-up swimming pool is hidden beneath the aft platform, accessed via a sliding lift system. Loose furniture, including loungers and side tables, is laid out on inset rugs to create symmetry and a relaxed social setup just above the waterline. A glazed doorway leads directly via angled glass doors into a recessed interior lower lounge, which connects directly to the lower guests room. Stairs lead up to the main deck aft dining area.
The Sun Deck is accessed via an external stair from the upper aft terrace. This space introduces Sanlorenzo’s Smart Island concept, where modular seating can be rearranged and reconfigured to suit different uses. This deck is intentionally more private, set back from the main guest areas and ideal for sunbathing, reading or casual drinks with a view. Forward on the main deck, the foredeck offers yet another outdoor zone, this time with a sunpad and forward-facing bench seating for taking in the horizon.
Interior Design
The interiors aboard SX120/01 are by Piero Lissoni, who brings his structured, architectural style into every corner of the layout. The palette is restrained, allowing materials to lead the design. Ceilings are detailed with wooden slats, which continue vertically in places to create depth and rhythm. Floors alternate between parquet and carpet, while bathroom finishes include marble-effect ceramic tiles. Select vertical surfaces feature a steel-look film, giving the spaces a slight industrial edge without sacrificing warmth.
The central focal point of the interior is a sculptural staircase wrapped in wood and finished with polished steel. Placed in the centre of the yacht, it provides vertical flow between all decks and ties the open-plan layout together.
The main saloon is arranged for relaxed entertaining, furnished with twin L-shaped sofas, two coffee tables, and a central rug. The arrangement invites conversation, while maintaining the open feel of the deck. A compact pantry and a guest dayhead are positioned just forward of the saloon, supporting service on this level without impinging on the guest experience.
The upper saloon is treated as a quiet retreat. A long linear sofa is placed along the starboard side facing a centrally placed circular dining table. This area can be adapted for dining, media, or informal gatherings, depending on how the owner prefers to use it. This space leads naturally into the enclosed wheelhouse beneath a dark-toned hardtop, where a central helm console is flanked by guest seating and excellent all-round visibility.
Accommodation
The SX120/01 accommodates 10 guests across five cabins, with a fifth convertible cabin that doubles as an informal lounge when open.
On the main deck, the full-beam owner’s suite occupies the forward section. The layout places the bed centrally, with panoramic glazing on either side and a warm, calming interior palette. A walk-in wardrobe and a large en-suite bathroom, complete with dual basins and spacious shower, are positioned discreetly aft. A door leads out to a private bow terrace, which can be arranged with a coffee table and sun loungers to create an outdoor extension of the suite.
Two VIP cabins are located forward of the lower lounge, positioned port and starboard. Each is fitted with a double bed, generous wardrobe storage, and an ensuite bathroom with twin sinks and a separate shower. A third guest double is located just forward of the aft lounge on the starboard side, also with its own ensuite and dressing area. Opposite sits a twin cabin, similarly appointed with its own private bathroom.
Further forward, the crew quarters are smartly arranged for function and privacy. The galley is set centrally, with access to dry and cold stores, a spacious preparation area and a mess/lounge. Four crew cabins (two each side) are laid out accommodating up to six crew.
Performance & Capabilities
SX120/01 is powered by four Volvo Penta IPS3 1350S diesel engines, each producing 1,000 horsepower. This configuration enables a top speed of 23 knots and a comfortable cruising speed of 20 knots. At 10 knots, she offers an extended range of up to 2,000 nautical miles, supported by fuel tanks with a total capacity of 19,500 litres.
The semi-displacement hull and the use of Volvo Penta’s IPS Professional Platform plays a key role in this performance. Its compact footprint allows for more interior space by minimising the engine room and aids manoeuvrability and fuel efficiency. Steerable pod drives with counter-rotating propellers contribute to smoother handling, particularly at low speeds.
The Volvo Penta IPS Professional platform features an integrated Eco Mode. This smart function automatically adjusts engine output in real time to meet power demands, helping reduce fuel consumption, lower emissions, and minimise mechanical wear. It can also balance engine run hours, selectively engaging the units with the least mileage to extend maintenance intervals. The system is also fitted with Selective Catalytic Reduction exhaust treatment, which further cuts harmful emissions.
