The award was presented in Cannes on September 12 during an elaborate gala evening at the Cannes Yachting Festival, with a host of industry professionals and representatives celebrating a year of phenomenal yacht design.
Developing the Sunreef Ultima Range
The Sunreef Ultima 88 is part of one of Sunreef Yachts’ newer model families, a range of power catamarans developed around a combination of performance, efficiency and a strong connection between the yacht and the water.
The range now spans a broad size spectrum. The Ultima 55, at 16.6 meters, sits toward the smaller end of the current lineup, the 23.5-meter Ultima 77 sits mid-range; the Ultima 88 extends the concept into the 27-meter class, while the 36.25-meter Ultima 122 sits above it as the largest model in the range.
This progression has allowed Sunreef to develop the Ultima concept across different scales without moving away from its central characteristics. The smaller Ultima 55, for example, takes a more performance-focused approach with a foil-assisted hull design and a top speed of around 36 knots, while the larger models provide more room for extended cruising and onboard accommodation.
The 88 therefore represents an important point within the range, combining the performance-oriented character of the Sunreef Ultima range with the volume expected of a yacht capable of longer stays aboard.
Sunreef Ultima 88 Design
Measuring 26.8 meters with a 9.1-meter beam, the Ultima 88 uses a wide multihull platform to create substantial interior and exterior living areas without relying on the proportions of a conventional monohull.
Sunreef Yachts is responsible for the exterior design, naval architecture, and interior design, with the layout configured to accommodate up to 10 guests in five cabins. An alternative four-cabin arrangement is also available, allowing the accommodation plan to be tailored to the owner's requirements.
The design places considerable emphasis on the aft section of the yacht. Opening bulwark platforms extend the usable space at sea level, while the aft garage provides storage for the yacht's water toys and opens onto an Ocean Lounge positioned close to the water.
This arrangement gives the stern several distinct functions. At anchor, the space becomes an outdoor area for swimming, relaxing and launching toys, while the garage remains integrated into the overall design rather than taking up a separate section of the deck.

A Different Approach to Power Catamaran Living
Large glazed areas help bring natural light into the living spaces and maintain views of the surrounding seascape. The interiors use sustainable woods, recycled plastics and reclaimed fabrics, while the arrangement is designed to make greater use of natural light and reduce the need for artificial lighting and air conditioning.
The accommodation includes a master suite alongside three double cabins and a twin cabin, giving the motor yacht flexibility for family cruising or larger groups. The five-cabin arrangement accommodates up to 10 guests, with six guest heads and a dedicated day head.
When it’s time to play, ULTIMA opens her bulwark platforms and aft garage to unlock new levels of fun with a fleet of electric toys and a walkaround Ocean Lounge.
Hybrid Propulsion and Solar Technology
Energy efficiency is another defining element of the Ultima concept, and the 88 extends Sunreef's work with alternative propulsion into a larger platform.
Combining hybrid propulsion with custom-engineered batteries and an integrated solar skin system. Solar generation is incorporated into the yacht rather than treated as a separate addition, supporting the onboard electrical systems while the hybrid setup is intended to allow quieter and more efficient operation.
