Amer Yachts Reveals 42m All-Aluminum Amer 42A Superyacht Alongside Three New Models

Italian builder Amer Yachts has revealed the new 42m Amer 42A, an all-aluminum superyacht concept marking its continued move into larger custom builds.

Designed by long-time collaborator Antonio Luxardo of Optima Design, the project introduces a lightweight metal platform alongside three new composite models that outline the yard’s future direction.

A New Direction for Amer's Metal Yacht Program

The Amer 42A is built entirely in aluminum, from hull to superstructure, making it the first design in the yard’s expanding metal yacht portfolio.

According to Luxardo, aluminum reduces displacement compared to steel builds, improving efficiency and cruising speeds. It also allows for more sculptural design elements, including curved forms, cantilevered sections and flowing deck overhangs without compromising strength.

Flowing Lines and Panoramic Glass

The Amer 42A adopts a sculpted profile rather than traditional horizontal deck lines, creating a stronger sense of movement. Extensive glazing spans multiple decks, softening the profile and maximizing natural light throughout the interior. The low-slung superstructure and sweeping lines give the motor yacht a sporty appearance while maintaining uninterrupted views from the main living areas.

Luxardo describes the design as inspired by wave motion, with each deck flowing into the next to form a continuous architectural shape.

Owner-Focused Accommodation

The layout centers on a full-beam owner’s suite on the main deck, with guest cabins positioned on the lower deck. Outdoor living is a key feature, with a spacious sundeck designed as the primary relaxation and entertainment area, reinforcing the superyacht’s open and contemporary feel.

While technical details have not yet been released, the concept continues Amer’s strategy of combining lightweight construction with Volvo Penta IPS propulsion to enhance efficiency and handling.

Three More Models Expand the Range

Alongside the Amer 42A, Amer Yachts has introduced three composite models - the Amer 9, Amer 10 and Amer 12 - developed with Milan-based studio AOUMM.

The 28m Amer 9 builds on an existing hull platform with larger windows and a layout separating owner, guest and crew areas, while offering both indoor and outdoor helm stations. The Amer 10 draws on navetta and explorer yacht influences, extending the main deck saloon, enlarging the beach area and adding interconnected terraces, with a central staircase linking all decks.

The Amer 12 will be offered in Classic, Charter and Luxury versions, each designed with distinct circulation routes and flexible use. AOUMM has also created a materials library to help owners compare finishes based on durability, comfort and sustainability.

Growing Into Larger Custom Builds

According to YachtBuyer MarketWatch, the yard currently has eight yachts in build or on order, including the 73.8m flagship Vertige (an Amer 74 Steel), now in outfitting ahead of its 2027 delivery. The order book also includes the 41.45m explorer Even Further, a fully custom steel project by Luiz de Basto Designs with naval architecture by Optima Design.

Together with the Amer 42A, these projects highlight the shipyard’s growing focus on larger custom yachts while maintaining development across its core model range.
