VIDEO: Feadship’s 72m Minimalist Superyacht Stella M Begins Sea Trials

The 72m superyacht Stella M (formerly Project 827) has entered sea trials from Feadship’s Amsterdam facility, marking the final stages of her build ahead of delivery scheduled for August 2025.

Originally launched on speculation in late 2022 under the name Sakura, Stella M was sold by Burgess just six weeks after hitting the market in July 2023. The Feadship superyacht now emerges as a custom-built hybrid vessel tailored for family use, with a refined layout, serene styling, and next-generation propulsion.

Sleek Lines and Smart Use of Space

Built across five expansive decks, Stella M carries a distinctive silhouette shaped by Studio De Voogt. A raked-back superstructure and sharp bow lend her a dynamic yet composed presence on the water, while the sculpted dolphin-fin mast and low bulwarks reinforce her modern, technical elegance. The yacht is constructed with a steel hull and aluminum superstructure, wrapped in white paintwork and set off by full teak decks.

Exterior highlights include a forward-facing sundeck with sunpads, bar, dining area, and a raised glass-sided jacuzzi. At the bow, a separate foredeck spa pool creates a more private escape. The main aft deck is centered around a striking 7-meter swimming pool, flanked by lounging areas and framed by cascading stadium steps that lead to a teak swim platform. A concealed wellness area, accessed either through the beach club or via retractable stairs, lies just below, blending function with architectural interest.

Onboard Stella M: Japandi-Inspired Interior Design

Inside, Italian studio FM Architettura has shaped a tranquil and tactile environment inspired by the “Japandi” style—merging Scandinavian clarity with Japanese restraint. Interiors are grounded in a soft, earthy palette, with layered textures and natural materials emphasizing simplicity, space, and flow. A floating walnut staircase winds through all decks, paired with an illuminated marble wall that anchors the aesthetic.

The main saloon runs longitudinally along the deck, with the dining and lounge spaces positioned to accommodate social gatherings while maximizing views through floor-to-ceiling glazing. A focus on uninterrupted sightlines and diffused light helps soften the division between interior and exterior, creating an easy sense of continuity throughout.

Private Owner’s Deck and Guest-Centric Layout

Accommodation aboard Stella M is arranged to support multi-generational use, with flexibility and privacy built into the design. The motor yacht sleeps 14 guests in seven cabins, including four guest staterooms and two VIP suites on the main deck. Both VIPs can be joined to create a single full-beam cabin, adding versatility for families or friends cruising together.

Above, the fully dedicated owner’s deck is a standout feature for a yacht of this size. Thanks to a raised pilothouse layout, the entire upper level is reserved for the master suite, with wraparound glazing offering panoramic views. The suite includes access to a private breakfast area and hot tub, as well as total separation from guest spaces below.

Crew quarters accommodate up to 18 staff in 10 cabins, including a captain’s cabin, with careful attention paid to circulation routes for discreet and efficient service.

Hybrid Power and Long-Range Capability

Underway, Stella M is powered by Feadship’s latest diesel-electric hybrid propulsion system. Twin MTU 16V 2000 engines generate a combined 2,494hp, paired with electric pods and IMO Tier III-compliant generators to deliver quiet, fuel-efficient cruising.

She reaches a top speed of 14.5 knots and cruises comfortably at 12 knots, with a range of 4,500 nautical miles. Her hybrid system supports reduced emissions and offers a future-ready platform for low-impact navigation.

A Family Yacht with Global Intent

From conception to execution, Stella M was shaped around a clear brief for long-term, family-friendly cruising. According to Feadship’s sales director Maarten Janssen, the owner was drawn to the project’s clean lines, early delivery window, and flexible layout - calling it a “perfect fit” from the start.

The project benefited from early owner involvement without disrupting timelines, allowing for meaningful input into key features like the wellness suite, longitudinal salon layout, and bespoke finishes.
