Hybrid 51m Spitfire Superyacht Enters Build Stage at Ares Yachts

Ares Yachts has begun construction on its 51m Spitfire superyacht.

Only weeks after launching its first-ever vessel, the 62-meter superyacht Simena, the vessel is now entering the molding phase at the Antalya shipyard. Spitfire is offered for sale with Denison Yachting and Christie Yachts, with a delivery timeline of 24 months once a client is confirmed.

Build Stage

The yacht for sale is now in the molding phase at the shipyard's Antalya facility. Although construction began on speculation, the shipyard has already advanced much of the structural and technical planning.

According to Yachts Projects Director Piraye Sahinkaya Orhun, this preparation means the yacht can transition smoothly into full build once a buyer is confirmed. With engineering, procurement, and design groundwork largely complete, delivery can be achieved within 24 months of commissioning.

Designers and Influences

The project unites Bannenberg & Rowell Design for both interior and exterior styling with naval architecture from Lateral Naval Architects. Inspiration comes from the Supermarine Spitfire aircraft, a symbol of British aviation, expressed through metallic finishes, clean geometry, and purposeful detailing.

Advanced composites form the hull and superstructure, derived from the proven fast-displacement platform of the Ares 150 Bold offshore patrol vessel.

Exterior Character

The exterior of the motor yacht carries a low-profile superstructure with dark glazing set against a military gray finish. A rounded bow and cutaway bulwarks emphasize her functional strength, while the stern opens into an explorer-style aft deck.

Outdoor areas extend across multiple decks, highlighted by the Poop Deck entertainment level with grill bar, retractable roof, and side doors that transform the wheelhouse deck into a full open-air social space.

Interiors with an Edge

Inside the superyacht for sale, Bannenberg & Rowell have introduced camouflage-inspired tones and materials such as punched metal, leather, and tinted glass. Industrial details appear in glazing bars and bathroom finishes, subtly echoing the 1940s.

Instead of conventional yacht terminology, Bannenberg & Rowell have drawn on aviation language to shape the narrative of Spitfire’s interior. Guest cabins become “Buddy Quarters,” while the full-beam main deck owner’s suite is described as the “Boss Quarters,” distinguished by a freestanding bed with panoramic 270-degree views.

The suite also connects to a private outdoor cinema, complete with retractable side screens and glass bulwarks. Four guest cabins sit on the lower deck, each with ensuite bathrooms and generous storage.

Flexible Living Spaces

Spitfire is built for an active, forward-thinking owner who values both adventure and relaxation.

Spitfire is designed around informal, adaptable living. Interiors include the D-Fac dining salon and the Bunker lounge, taking their names from military jargon, yet both capable of shifting between casual and formal atmospheres.

The beach club can also reconfigure as a cinema, gym, or lounge. Every detail aims to create a yacht that balances performance-driven pedigree with comfortable, flexible social spaces.

Accommodation and Crew

Spitfire will host up to ten guests across five cabins: two doubles, two twins, and the main deck owner's suite. Eight crew are accommodated in five cabins, ensuring professional operation for extended cruising.

Hybrid Propulsion and Performance

At the core of Spitfire is a hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system, paired with 290kW electric motors and an optional extended battery package. This allows silent, zero-emission cruising for up to an hour, with six to eleven hours of emissions-free hotel operations depending on the battery package.

Variable-speed generators and zero-speed stabilizers enhance efficiency and onboard comfort. Spitfire will achieve over 20 knots at top speed and offers a range of 3,500 nautical miles at 10 knots.
