More DetailsThe 30.63m motor yacht Askari was delivered to her owners in 2020 by Taiwanese shipyard Horizon. Her naval architecture, interior and exterior has been penned by the Horizon design team.
Key Features
- Raised Pilothouse Design
- 1,300nm Cruising Range
- Country Kitchen
- Expansive Open Flybridge
Design & Construction
Designed around a semi-displacement GRP hull and superstructure she features a 6.48m beam and a 1.83m draft. The yacht is built over 2 decks with an internal volume of 138 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Exterior Design
Askari combines the classic raised pilothouse layout with a surprisingly sleek profile for a yacht of this size. Designed by J.C. Espinosa, her exterior uses long horizontal lines, expansive glazing and gently stepped deck levels to reduce visual height and create a more streamlined appearance. The dark window bands run almost continuously through the superstructure, helping to break up the white topsides while bringing plenty of natural light into the interior.
The bow carries a purposeful but elegant shape, with deep bulwarks and substantial handrails that reflect the yacht's offshore cruising credentials. Unlike many raised pilothouse yachts where the foredeck serves mainly as a passageway, Askari makes practical use of the space with integrated seating and sunpads that create a lovely private retreat away from the main entertaining areas.
Aft, the decks cascade gently towards the water, creating a softer profile than the more upright styling often seen on traditional tri-deck yachts. The arrangement also improves circulation between the different outdoor spaces. Large side decks connect the exterior areas, while the raised pilothouse design creates clear separation between guest and operational zones.
The flybridge is a major feature of the yacht. Open and spacious, it functions as a genuine third deck rather than simply a bridge-top terrace. Dining, lounging and social spaces share the deck comfortably, while a davit allows the tender to be launched directly from the bridge deck. The arrangement was tailored to suit Australian-style boating, where outdoor living often forms the centre of life onboard.
Interior Design
Askari's interior balances contemporary styling with a warm, residential atmosphere. Satin-finished wenge wood appears throughout the guest areas, adding richness and contrast without making the spaces feel heavy. The dark timber works particularly well against lighter soft furnishings and large areas of glazing.
The main saloon follows an open-plan arrangement that connects naturally with the formal dining area. Large side windows draw in daylight and help the yacht feel larger than her dimensions suggest. A custom bar and entertainment console runs along the starboard side, creating a focal point within the room and supporting both everyday cruising and guest entertaining.
One feature that reflects the yacht's Australian brief is the inclusion of a country kitchen. Positioned as a social space rather than a purely functional galley, it creates an informal gathering area where family and guests can spend time together throughout the day.
The raised pilothouse includes a built-in observation settee, allowing guests to join the captain while underway. It is a simple feature, but one that owners often value on long passages as it turns the wheelhouse into part of the cruising experience rather than a closed operational space.
Accommodation
Askari accommodates up to eight guests in four suites, comprising an owner's cabin, a VIP cabin and two twin guest cabins. The layout places all guest accommodation on the lower deck, allowing the main deck to remain dedicated to social and entertaining spaces.
The owner's suite benefits from the yacht's generous beam and offers a comfortable private retreat for extended cruising. The VIP cabin provides similarly spacious accommodation for principal guests, while the twin cabins add flexibility for family groups or mixed guest parties.
The decision to place all four cabins on the lower deck creates a practical separation between daytime and nighttime living areas. This arrangement also allows the main deck to accommodate the large saloon, formal dining area and country kitchen without compromise.
Crew accommodation is provided for up to four crew members, allowing owners to maintain a high level of service while retaining excellent guest space throughout the yacht.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (C 32 ACERT) 1,600hp engines, motor yacht Askari is capable of reaching a top speed of 22 knots, and comfortably cruises at 10 knots. Her semi-displacement hull design means she offers a great balance of space and speed.
