Multiple is a 39.2m motor yacht delivered by Italian shipyard Mangusta in 2023. Her naval architecture and exterior design comes from the drawing boards of Mangusta, while Alberto Mancini is responsible for her interior design.

Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement GRP hull and superstructure she features a 8.5m beam and a 2.25m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 324 GT (Gross Tonnes).

This was the first yacht built on the Oceano 39 design. Launched in May 2023 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months.

Exterior Design

Multiple has a very different shape from the fast, low Mangustas that built much of the brand's reputation. Alberto Mancini and Overmarine have carried the superstructure well out towards the hull sides, then used huge areas of dark glass and relatively little solid bulwark to stop the yacht feeling enclosed.

The aft half of the yacht opens up progressively as it reaches the water. Fold-down terraces extend the beach house on either side, creating a much broader waterside area once the yacht is at anchor. It is a useful bit of design because the extra space appears where it is wanted, without permanently adding beam or filling the stern with fixed deck.

The main and upper saloons use floor-to-ceiling glazing, with sections that can open rather than remaining fixed behind the furniture. That approach continues outside, where glass bulwarks preserve the view from the terraces instead of putting guests behind high solid sides.

Forward on the upper deck is one of the Oceano 39's cleverest features: an infinity pool with a partially glazed bottom. It is not simply there for the view from the pool. Light passes through the water and glass into the owner's suite directly below, so a feature on one deck becomes part of the architecture of another.

Multiple also matters within the range because she was the first Oceano 39 to reach the water, launched on 31 May 2023 with her owner present. Later hulls have taken the same platform in different directions, but this is the yacht that established the model's original layout and slower, longer-range propulsion brief.

Interior Design

Alberto Mancini designed Multiple's interior alongside Overmarine's technical department, working with the owner rather than applying a fixed production scheme.

The strongest feature is the amount of glass rather than any single material or piece of furniture. Both main and upper saloons have full-height windows, and opening sections allow the rooms to connect directly with the exterior decks.

That changes how the interior works. The saloons do not simply have large windows beside conventional rooms; they can become part of a much larger indoor-outdoor area once the glass is opened. On a yacht with an 8.5m (27.9ft) beam, that gives the main living spaces a particularly broad relationship with the water.

The upper saloon adds a second enclosed living area above the main deck, again with large sliding glass sections opening towards the aft terrace. Multiple therefore has two substantial indoor social spaces without either feeling separated from the decks outside.

Accommodation

Multiple accommodates ten guests in five suites, with separate accommodation for five crew.

The owner's suite sits forward on the main deck, while four guest cabins are arranged below. That keeps the owner's accommodation away from the machinery and gives the cabin larger windows than would be possible lower in the hull.

The owner's suite also has its own fully automated fold-down balcony. Rather than opening onto one of the communal decks, it creates a private terrace directly from the cabin.

Above the suite, the partially glazed infinity pool brings another unusual element into the room. Natural light passes through the bottom of the pool into the owner's accommodation, producing changing reflections as the water moves. It is probably the most memorable piece of cross-deck design aboard Multiple.

Four further guest suites occupy the lower deck, keeping the full main deck available for the owner's accommodation and shared living spaces.

Performance & Capabilities

Multiple uses the standard, longer-range propulsion package developed for the Oceano 39.

Twin MTU 12V 2000 M86 diesels produce 1,700hp each, giving a cruising speed of around 12 knots and a maximum of 16 knots. Range is approximately 2,600 nautical miles.

That engine choice is important because the Oceano 39 was also offered with much more powerful 2,600hp MTUs capable of pushing later examples towards 20 knots. Multiple takes the other route, trading outright pace for the model's maximum quoted range.

It suits the character of the yacht. This is a boat built around large living spaces, long stays aboard and spending time at anchor, rather than trying to turn nearly 40m of displacement yacht into another high-speed Mangusta.
