The 54m open yacht Betsy is being constructed by Italian shipyard Mangusta and is due to be delivered in 2026. Her interior design and exterior styling comes from the drawing boards of Alberto Mancini, while Mangusta is responsible for her naval architecture.

Design & Construction
Designed around a fast displacement aluminium hull and superstructure she features a 9.01m beam and a 2.3m draft. The yacht is built over 2 decks with an internal volume of 499 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Launched in July 2026 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months.
Exterior Design
Designed by Alberto Mancini in collaboration with Overmarine Group, Betsy belongs to the flagship Mangusta GranSport 54 series, a model that changed the direction of the Italian builder. For decades Mangusta built some of the world's fastest Maxi Open yachts, but changing owner expectations created demand for something different: a yacht capable of crossing oceans at an economical pace without giving up the speed and sharp styling that defined the brand. The GranSport 54 became Mangusta's answer, creating what the yard describes as a Sport Utility Yacht. Its commercial success, now marked by the launch of the fifth hull, shows how well that balance has been received.
That new philosophy is clear in the yacht's profile. Built entirely in aluminium, Betsy combines a low, muscular silhouette with the proportions of a much larger displacement yacht. The sharply defined bow flows into a deeply recessed foredeck lounge, allowing the superstructure to remain low while concealing a generous social area with a swimming pool and sunpads. A steeply raked windscreen, integrated air intakes and uninterrupted sheer line draw the eye aft, giving the impression of movement even when the yacht is lying at anchor.
Although she measures 54m (177.2ft), the GranSport 54 remains below the important 500GT threshold, reaching 499GT while providing accommodation for 12 guests across six cabins. Extensive floor-to-ceiling glazing runs throughout the superstructure, reducing the visual bulk and filling the interior with natural light. At the stern, the profile steps down towards a broad beach club with folding side terraces, creating a large waterside entertaining area without interrupting the yacht's clean lines.
Beneath the styling lies one of the model's biggest engineering achievements. Rather than adopting a conventional planing hull, Mangusta worked with Pierluigi Ausonio Naval Architecture to develop a fast surface-piercing hull capable of both high-speed cruising and genuine long-range passages. The concept proved itself early in the model's life when the first hull, El Leon, completed Atlantic and Pacific crossings under her own power.
Accommodation
Betsy accommodates up to 12 guests in six staterooms, an impressive arrangement for a yacht that remains below 500GT. The accommodation plan makes full use of the available volume, creating spacious guest areas while maintaining generous crew facilities for extended cruising.
The owner's suite occupies a prime position on the main deck, benefiting from large windows that flood the cabin with natural light and strengthen the connection with the sea. The remaining guest cabins are arranged on the lower deck, providing comfortable ensuite accommodation for family and friends, while separate quarters accommodate nine crew, including the captain.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by four MTU 16V 2000 M96L diesel engines producing a combined 10,400hp, Betsy reaches a top speed of 29 knots and cruises comfortably at 20 knots. At an economical 12 knots she has a range of approximately 4,200 nautical miles, giving the GranSport 54 the ability to undertake genuine transoceanic passages.
The quad-engine arrangement is central to the yacht's versatility. During long-range cruising, the two inner engines can be shut down, allowing the outer pair to operate under a more efficient load and reducing fuel consumption compared with running four lightly loaded engines. When higher speeds are required, all four engines are brought online to deliver the performance expected of a Mangusta. The arrangement also provides useful redundancy for long offshore passages, allowing the yacht to continue operating even if one propulsion line becomes unavailable.
That flexibility works alongside the fast surface-piercing hull developed by Pierluigi Ausonio Naval Architecture. Rather than forcing owners to choose between a high-speed sport yacht and a long-range displacement cruiser, the GranSport 54 combines much of the capability of both, remaining one of the defining models in Mangusta's modern history.
