44m Mangusta Oceano 44 Superyacht Lulus Launched

The 44m superyacht Lulus has officially launched, bringing to life a project informed by owners whose extensive chartering experience helped guide the yacht's development.

Sold by Camper & Nicholsons in December 2023, Lulus was built by Overmarine Group and commissioned as the seventh hull in the Mangusta Oceano 44 series. Maël Fiolet, Yacht Sales Advisor at Camper & Nicholsons, described the launch as a significant delivery for owners with extensive yachting experience, adding that the project had been shaped by “uncompromising attention to detail.”

Preparing for Life on the Charter Market

Lulus has been conceived with both private use and charter in mind. Following delivery, she will join the Camper & Nicholsons charter fleet, with the company continuing to support the yacht through management, insurance and corporate services.

Accommodation is arranged for up to 12 guests in five cabins. The layout includes a main deck master suite with a private balcony, two double cabins and two convertible cabins, giving the yacht the flexibility expected of a high-use charter platform.

Some deliveries carry a special significance. Launching LULUS, a Mangusta Oceano 44, for an owner with extensive yachting experience reflects a shared pursuit of excellence and uncompromising attention to detail, resulting in a truly stunning yacht. We are proud to have accompanied this journey from vision to reality."

According to Vanessa Morlot, Senior Charter Broker at Camper & Nicholsons, the owners were drawn to the Oceano 44’s contemporary design, extensive glazing and strong connection to the water. Lulus has also been decorated by the owners, with selected materials, furnishings and decorative pieces used to give the yacht a highly personal interior character.

Bringing Owners Closer to the Water

The Mangusta Oceano 44 is one of the more distinctive models in Overmarine Group’s long-range line, moving away from the low, high-speed profile traditionally associated with Mangusta and into a more voluminous, steel-and-aluminum superyacht format.

Forward, the yacht features one of the model’s signature spaces: “The Island.” This foredeck arrangement places two sunpads within the pool area, accessed by a small bridge, creating a social zone with direct views over the bow.

On the upper deck, glass replaces more conventional bulwarks, opening the deck to the surroundings and supporting the model’s emphasis on views across the water. Aft, the beach club opens through the lowered transom and fold-out side terraces, forming a generous waterline lounge with a 180-degree connection to the sea.

Daniela Duck, Managing Director Camper & Nicholsons Italy and Group Head of New Build, said the launch marked a major moment in a longer relationship with the owners, which began before the motor yacht’s acquisition and will continue through management and future support.

YachtBuyer Takes a Closer Look

YachtBuyer reviewed the Mangusta Oceano 44 in 2024, following the model’s debut at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. The review scored the yacht an impressive 4.5 star score, placing it close to the flawless YB 5-star result required for entry into the prestigious YachtBuyer Hall of Fame.

The review praised the model’s design and build quality, helm station, engine room and beach club, while also noting the strength of its long-range credentials. Key highlights from the review included the main deck owner’s suite with a push-button private balcony, the expansive beach club with side terraces, the foredeck pool arrangement and the unusually strong technical spaces for a yacht of this size.

Understanding the Oceano Range

According to YachtBuyer MarketWatch, the world's largest yacht database, the 44 currently sits in the Mangusta Oceano range just above the 39m Oceano 39 and below the larger 46m Oceano 46 and 50m Oceano 50.

The Oceano 39 acts as the entry point to the range and is built from GRP, with accommodation for up to 12 guests and a reported range of 2,600nm. The Oceano 46 moves closer to 500GT and offers long-distance cruising capability, with accommodation for up to 12 guests and a reported range of 4,000nm.

Above both, the Oceano 50 extends the concept further, using a steel hull and aluminum superstructure, accommodation for up to 12 guests and a reported range of 4,000nm at 11 knots. The Oceano 44 therefore occupies a central position in the lineup, retaining the range’s focus on volume, glazing, beach club living and long-range cruising, while keeping the yacht within a highly manageable 44m platform.

For owners looking at the Oceano series, Lulus adds another visible example of how the 44m model can be tailored around private preferences while still carrying strong charter appeal.
