Design & Construction
Designed around a fast displacement aluminium hull and superstructure she features a 8.59m beam and a 2.2m draft. The yacht is built over 2 decks with an internal volume of 444 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Construction started in mid 2018 with the keel laid under the project name 'Amalfi'. This was the second yacht built on the GranSport 45 design. Launched in January 2021 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in August 2021.
Exterior Design
R.R. is hull four of the 45.3m (148.6ft) Mangusta GranSport 45, a model that marked an important step in Overmarine's evolution. Best known for powerful open yachts, the Italian builder developed the GranSport series to offer owners genuine long-range cruising without giving up the low, athletic proportions that define the Mangusta name. Designed by Alberto Mancini with naval architecture by Pierluigi Ausonio, the GranSport 45 combines 444GT of interior volume with a top speed of 26 knots, creating one of the most distinctive fast-displacement superyachts in this size range.
Mancini approached the design much like a high-performance grand tourer. Inspired by the proportions of an Aston Martin, he gave the GranSport 45 a profile that appears remarkably low for a true tri-deck yacht. A sharply raked bow, forward-leaning bridge windows and a long sweep of dark glazing create a strong sense of motion even when the yacht is lying quietly at anchor. Rather than breaking the profile into separate decks, the glazing forms continuous horizontal bands that stretch almost the full length of the yacht, disguising her height while drawing attention to her length.
The clean styling continues aft. Air intakes are worked into the sculpted aluminium superstructure instead of appearing as separate engineering features, while a flowing shoulder line runs uninterrupted from bow to stern. Hull and superstructure are both built in aluminium, helping deliver the performance expected of the GranSport name without compromising interior volume.
One of the model's most innovative features sits beneath the foredeck. Instead of filling the stern with tenders, the GranSport 45 moves its main garage forward, where a crane launches the Williams DieselJet 565 and personal watercraft. This frees the entire transom for guests, allowing R.R. to devote her aft deck to a full-beam beach club with fold-down terraces, a sauna and direct access to the water. It is a layout more commonly found aboard much larger displacement yachts, but one that fits naturally within the GranSport 45's low, flowing profile.
Interior Design
Rather than relying on traditional superyacht layouts, the arrangement of R.R. reflects the way owners use a fast cruising yacht, with generous social spaces, excellent natural light and strong links to the decks outside.
The main saloon is given over entirely to relaxed living. Without a formal dining table occupying the centre of the room, the space feels unusually open for a yacht of this size, while floor-to-ceiling glazing and sliding side doors blur the boundary between the interior and the sea beyond. Integrated mirrored televisions and carefully concealed storage maintain the clean architectural lines without drawing attention to technology.
Forward, the full-beam owner's suite occupies the best position on the main deck. A substantial walk-in dressing room separates the entrance from the bedroom, creating the feel of a private apartment, while a fold-down balcony opens directly above the water. The ensuite bathroom includes one of the yacht's most distinctive features, with skylights beneath the foredeck pool allowing natural light and the movement of the water above to ripple across the ceiling.
Formal entertaining moves to the upper deck, where a dedicated dining room seats up to 12 guests beside a fully equipped bar. Sliding glass doors open onto the aft terrace, allowing the space to extend naturally outdoors while leaving the main saloon free for informal gatherings throughout the day.
Accommodation
R.R. accommodates up to 12 guests across five cabins, with a layout that balances generous owner spaces with flexible guest accommodation. The full-beam owner's suite occupies the main deck and benefits from its dressing room, private balcony and luxurious ensuite, while two full-beam VIP cabins on the lower deck offer a level of comfort that rivals many yachts' principal suites.
This yacht also illustrates the flexibility built into the GranSport 45 platform. One guest area has been customised as a dedicated children's suite with four berths and an adjoining nanny cabin. Should a future owner prefer a more conventional arrangement, Mangusta designed the space so it can be converted back to the standard guest cabin layout.
Crew accommodation is equally well considered, with quarters for seven across four cabins, including a dedicated captain's cabin. Separate circulation routes allow the crew to move discreetly throughout the yacht, supporting the effortless service expected aboard a superyacht of this calibre.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by 3 x diesel MTU (16V 2000 M96L) 16-cylinder 2,600hp engines running at 2450rpm, motor yacht R.R. is capable of reaching a top speed of 26 knots, and comfortably cruises at 20 knots. With her 54,000 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 4,200 nautical miles at an economic speed of 12 knots. She has been fitted with stabilizers to increase on-board comfort when the yacht is at anchor, particularly in rough waters.
