Officially unveiled at the Miami International Boat Show, the 37.58-meter yacht reshapes the middle of the brand’s fast-cruising lineup and completes the current GranSport range as a Sport Utility Yacht focused on volume, efficiency, and long-range comfort.
Dual Asymmetry - A Structural Shift in Space Planning
At the core of the GranSport 38 is a dual asymmetry layout developed across the main and upper decks. On the main deck, the port-side walkway remains while the starboard side is absorbed into the interior, expanding the salon footprint. On the upper deck of the yacht, the arrangement is reversed, with a single starboard walkway and increased interior volume to port.
This architectural choice is more than a styling gesture. By removing one side deck per level, Mangusta has increased usable interior space without widening the beam. The result is larger-than-average living areas within a 7.9-meter beam envelope.
Just like in art and architecture, perspective is purposefully sought for to endow space with deep meaning and a unique identity."
Mangusta
The main salon benefits most directly. Floor-to-ceiling glazing stretches along the expanded side, creating open horizon views from what the yard describes as a cocooned lounge environment. The space connects directly to the aft cockpit, reinforcing a continuous social flow from interior to exterior.
Forward on the main deck, the full-beam owner’s suite extends across the motor yacht’s width. Wide glazing and open sightlines give the suite a terrace-like feel over the water, consistent with the model’s emphasis on perspective and visual continuity.
Upper Deck Entertaining with Forward Infinity Pool
The upper deck mirrors the asymmetrical philosophy. Its salon opens aft onto a generous alfresco dining area, while forward Mangusta’s signature infinity pool anchors the foredeck as a primary social destination rather than a secondary lounge zone.
Glass uprights replace heavier structural elements, preserving sightlines and reinforcing the yacht’s clean, low profile. The intention is clear - maintain openness while retaining the sporty character associated with the GranSport line. Above, the sundeck is conceived as a private lookout. More intimate than the decks below, it offers a retreat space for observation and relaxation, separated from the main social areas.
Waterline Living with Fold-Down Extensions
A two-level beach club completes the aft arrangement. From the full-beam cockpit, which features a bar and twin C-shaped sofas, a central staircase leads down to the swim platform. Two sun loungers with integrated storage face the sea.
Fold-down side wings and an aft transformer platform extend the footprint at anchor, creating a broad waterside terrace. The layout prioritizes ease of movement, with direct transitions between seating, swimming, and toy deployment areas. The side-opening garage accommodates a tender up to 5.5 meters along with two jet skis. Storage is integrated carefully throughout the beach club area, preserving clean lines while maintaining functionality
Flexible Interior Configuration
Interiors of the superyacht have been developed in cooperation with Alberto Mancini, continuing Mangusta’s owner-led customization philosophy. Layout configuration, material selection, and finish choices remain adaptable, though the debut configuration leans toward light woods, neutral fabrics, and sculpted ceiling details that enhance perceived height and brightness.
The GranSport 38 accommodates up to 12 guests across five cabins, supported by seven crew in four dedicated cabins. The full-beam master suite is located on the main deck, while guest cabins are arranged below.
Performance Positioned for Coastal Cruising
Power comes from the Volvo Penta IPS Professional platform, consisting of four Volvo Penta D13 engines rated at 1,000 horsepower each, coupled with two propulsion pods. This configuration enables a more compact engine room, freeing additional internal volume.
Performance figures reflect the model’s Sport Utility positioning rather than outright speed. The GranSport 38 reaches a maximum speed of approximately 20 knots and cruises at 18 knots, with a reported range of up to 600 nautical miles at cruising speed. Fuel capacity is approximately 20,000 liters.
Where the GranSport 38 Fits in the Range
The 38m GranSport 38 now sits firmly between the GranSport 34 and the aluminum-built GranSport 45 within the Mangusta GranSport series, but its role is more defined than a simple mid-range addition. It introduces a new spatial strategy within the series, centered on dual asymmetry and expanded interior volume.
The Mangusta GranSport 34 remains the composite-built entry point, engineered for long-range cruising at higher speeds, with a reported 3,000-nautical-mile range at 20 knots. The GranSport 38 shifts that focus. While still composite, it prioritizes interior scale and deck usability - full-beam main deck master, enlarged salon, two-level beach club, and side-opening garage - supported by four Volvo Penta D13 IPS engines delivering 20 knots top speed and a 600-nautical-mile range.
Above it, the Mangusta GranSport 45 introduces aluminum construction, greater technical complexity, and speeds exceeding 26 knots, while the flagship Mangusta GranSport 54 extends that philosophy into near-30-knot performance and true long-range capability. Our YachtBuyer review of the GranSport 54 highlighted its engineering depth, autonomy, and suitability for extended passages - placing it firmly in superyacht territory.
Against that backdrop, the GranSport 38 reads as a deliberate recalibration. It delivers much of the spatial confidence and social focus of the larger models, without the operational scale or ocean-crossing brief. For owners seeking sub-40-meter manageability with stronger volume and deck architecture than the 34, its positioning is clear.
