122m Lürssen Superyacht Kismet Claims Two Major Wins at World Superyacht Awards 2025

With two impressive accolades earned at the 2025 World Superyacht Awards, the 122m superyacht Kismet continues to make her mark on the global yachting stage.

The Lürssen custom-built superyacht took home both the Motor Yacht of the Year title and the award for Displacement Motor Yachts - 1,500GT and above. It’s a decisive achievement for a yacht that has helped redefine what custom construction can deliver at this scale.

What Sets Kismet Apart

Delivered in April 2024, Kismet is a full custom project built under the code name Project Jag for a repeat Lürssen client. She represents a clear evolution from the owner’s previous 95-meter yacht, who was also named Kismet but was renamed Whisper. Every element of the new vessel was tailored to an exacting brief that called for technical ambition, bold creativity, and a distinctive personal style.

Kismet spans five decks with a volume of 4,918GT. She marries engineering complexity with artistry, from her sleek Nuvolari Lenard exterior and jaguar-inspired bow to the expressive and layered interiors by Reymond Langton Design. Judges cited not only the overall build of the yacht quality and integration of technology, but also her sense of identity – an attribute that’s harder to quantify but central to her success.

Across both award categories, it was this combination of scale, craftsmanship, and imagination that set Kismet apart from her peers. Her ability to shift between entertainment, wellness, private retreat, and business functionality demonstrates a rare depth of planning and execution.

Kismet’s wins at the World Superyacht Awards follow a series of accolades earned throughout 2024 and 2025. These include Outstanding Exterior Design and Outstanding Lifestyle Feature at the Boat International Design & Innovation Awards, a finalist spot for Best Interior Design in her class, and Yacht of the Year at the World Yachts Trophies

Living Art: Exterior and Interior Design

On deck, the motor yacht is a visual tour de force. The prow’s sculpted jaguar figurehead, produced by Aritex in Taiwan, leads a hull whose flared mast wings and dark grey finish give it a purposeful, almost architectural presence.

The exterior design flows seamlessly into its social and leisure spaces: a mosaic-lined 40-tonne aft pool, multiple fire pits, a certified helipad, and a top-deck DJ booth all serve different moods and moments.

Inside, the tone shifts dramatically between zones. A nightclub dressed in turquoise and pinks contrasts with the tranquil wellness center, while the main saloon features de Gournay hand-painted panels, a custom champagne bar, and a showpiece Bogányi piano.

Double-height voids, mirrored ceilings, and richly layered finishes create a theatrical sense of space that never loses its elegance.

Built to a Bold Brief

The brief for Kismet was one of the most ambitious Lürssen has tackled. It called for everything from a Versailles-inspired dining room to a floating Buddha sculpture in the yoga studio. With project management by Moran Yacht & Ship and input from long-standing collaborators including the yacht’s captain, Kyle Fultz, the result is a vessel that channels personal expression without compromising on performance or seaworthiness.

Testing the underwater lounge took 18 months. The mast was extensively engineered to carry exhaust away without visual clutter. Every detail, down to the red leather upholstery in the office and the lighting components in the marble staircase, was built to spec.

Amenities and Atmosphere

Kismet is as much about experience as she is about aesthetics. The two-deck Nemo lounge offers an immersive viewing area both above and below the waterline. A fully equipped spa includes a cryo chamber, cold plunge, massage room, sauna, and steam room, with tranquil interiors that blend Japanese influences with rich textures.

Accommodation spans 11 guest suites for up to 20 people, including a two-deck owner’s suite with private Jacuzzi, office, and panoramic lounge. The master cabin pairs lacquered panels with gold-leaf scalloped detailing and custom marquetry, while the guest cabins take inspiration from haute couture houses, each with distinct decorative themes.

The crew is equally well provided for, with generous crew quarters and a large lounge designed with comfort and utility in mind.

Advanced Systems at Scale

Behind the glamour, Kismet carries a sophisticated diesel-electric hybrid propulsion system featuring PTI/PTO technology – a first for Lürssen. Developed in partnership with MTU, Reintjes, and Danfoss, the system enables short-range silent cruising at 7 knots and contributes to Tier III emissions compliance.

A transparent, glass-lined corridor running through the engine room gives guests a clear view of what the shipyard has dubbed the “TRON experience” – a fitting name for a setup that integrates power, sustainability, and spectacle. With a range of 6,000 nautical miles at 12 knots and a top speed of 18 knots, Kismet delivers serious cruising capability alongside its luxury credentials.

Part of Lürssen’s Powerhouse Lineup in the YB100

At 122 meters in length and with an internal volume of 4,918 GT, Kismet is one of the world's biggest yachts. She currently holds the 49th position in YachtBuyer's YB100—a ranking that takes gross tonnage as the definitive measure of a yacht's scale. This metric emphasizes interior volume over length, offering a more accurate representation of onboard space and capacity.

Kismet shares this prestigious list with several other Lürssen-built giants that dominate the top tiers:

  • Dilbar: Delivered in 2016, the 156m yacht boasts a staggering 15,917 GT, making her the largest motor yacht in the world by gross tonnage.
  • Al Said: Launched in 2008, this 155m vessel has a gross tonnage of 15,850 GT, putting her in second place.
  • Blue: In third place, Blue was delivered in 2022 and measures 160m with an internal volume of 14,785 GT.

With her scale, detail, and depth of design, Kismet has raised the bar for what a custom superyacht can achieve. From her hybrid propulsion system to her theatrical interiors and meticulously planned amenities, every element reflects an uncompromising vision brought to life through expert collaboration. These latest accolades not only affirm her as a standout of her generation but also reinforce Lürssen’s continued leadership at the very top of the industry.
