VIDEO: 35m Custom Van der Valk Superyacht Lalabe Delivered Ahead of Cannes Debut

Built as a fully custom tri-deck for relaxed, multi-generational cruising, the 35m superyacht Lalabe has officially been delivered ahead of her 2025 Cannes Yachting Festival debut.

Designed inside and out by Guido de Groot, Lalabe features naval architecture by Diana Yacht Design and Ginton Naval Architects. Developed under the name Project Samba, she shares her proven hull form with the award-winning LL but brings her own distinctive style and layout.

The profile and layout of the yacht reflect Van der Valk’s ongoing custom build ethos, with her entire arrangement conceived from the waterline up. The yard confirmed the owners were closely involved in the project from the earliest design stages, aiming to create “the most relaxing rhythms of life on the water.”

Inside Lalabe: A Family-Friendly Interior

The interior of Lalabe draws from residential influences, delivering a warm and inviting atmosphere with a neutral palette of light woods, soft creams, and gentle curves throughout the furnishings. The main saloon is surrounded by tall windows and sliding glass doors, giving direct access to the aft deck and reinforcing a sense of openness. De Groot's layout includes a large central staircase, designed as a sculptural focal point, which connects the lower deck to the bridge deck.

Accommodation on board the motor yacht is arranged across five guest suites, sleeping up to 10 guests. These include a full-beam master suite on the main deck with a private office and lounge, two VIP suites, and two twins. Crew accommodation is provided for up to seven. The galley has been designed with frequent owner use in mind, equipped with ample countertop space and a central island for preparing meals.

Alfresco Living: Relaxed Outdoor Spaces Built for All Generations

Lalabe was built with outdoor enjoyment at the forefront. Aft, the cockpit flows into a beach club designed to mirror the feel of a garden terrace, with a sofa lounge, alfresco dining table, and direct access to the water via a custom swim platform. Below, the beach club also features a sauna, day head, secondary lounge area, and laundry facilities for towels.

The flybridge offers further space for relaxation, with sunbeds and informal seating arranged to take full advantage of panoramic views. Forward of the wheelhouse, fold-out balconies provide additional lounging options.

These outdoor areas have been crafted not just for aesthetics, but to support a calm, unhurried style of cruising. According to the yard, every element is meant to feel like a natural extension of the owner’s lifestyle ashore.

A Capable Cruiser

Constructed in aluminum, Lalabe is a fast displacement yacht capable of reaching a top speed of 17 knots, with a cruising speed of 13.5 knots under twin MAN diesel engines. Her hull has been optimized for efficient, long-distance cruising without compromising comfort or performance.

The yacht was developed at Van der Valk’s growing facility in the Netherlands, which recently expanded with a new 2,540-square-meter construction hall. Her delivery follows the handover of sistership One, a 34.1-meter tri-deck yacht also derived from the LL platform, which is now listed for sale.

Cannes Yachting Festival Debut

Lalabe will make her global debut at the 2025 Cannes Yachting Festival, where she will be on display in the Vieux Port. Van der Valk will also be exhibiting at stands SYE 025 and SYE 137.
