Eighth Moonen 122 Martinique Superyacht Lollipop Completes North Sea Sea Trials

The 37m superyacht Lollipop has successfully completed her final sea trials in the North Sea, marking the last major construction milestone before delivery to her owners later this summer.

Lollipop is the eighth hull in the Moonen 122 Martinique series and follows her launch and christening earlier this year. Built for long-range cruising with a strong focus on family use, the yacht now moves into final outfitting and handover preparations after completing endurance testing in real operating conditions.

Sea Trials Push the Martinique Platform in North Sea Conditions

The trial program took place over several days and was designed to validate the yacht’s performance, handling, comfort levels, and onboard systems across a full operational envelope. Testing of the Moonen yacht included maneuverability, stability, endurance, and assessments of vibration and noise levels, with the North Sea providing a more demanding environment than sheltered coastal waters.

According to Moonen, Lollipop exceeded performance expectations during the program, reinforcing the series’ reputation for strong seakeeping and efficient long-distance cruising. Project Manager Ian Vermoen described the trials as one of the most rewarding stages of construction, noting that the yacht handled North Sea conditions confidently and is now prepared for delivery.

Seeing LOLLIPOP perform so confidently during her endurance trials is a testament to the dedication and craftsmanship of everyone involved in the project. She handled the North Sea beautifully and is now fully prepared to begin her journey with her owners.”

The trials also bring the project full circle after Lollipop entered the water in March, when her metallic hull finish first drew attention. Unlike more conventional paint schemes, the finish shifts between silver, white, and soft blue-gray tones depending on light conditions, giving the yacht a changing visual character.

A Personalized Take on the 122 Martinique Formula

Lollipop follows the established Martinique platform developed by Diana Yacht Design and René van der Velden, though the owners introduced several custom details that give this hull a distinct identity. Exterior lines stay close to the proven fast-displacement profile, with broad glazing bands, stepped deck levels, and generous outdoor areas spread across three decks. The extended swim platform measures around 20 square meters and incorporates Z-lift swim stairs for easier access to the water.

On the sun deck, the owners commissioned a custom whirlpool surrounded by playful candy-inspired details - a subtle reference to the motor yacht’s name. Nearby, a bespoke cocktail bar uses transparent surfaces embedded with decorative confectionery elements and pastel lighting accents.

Inside, Dutch studio Vripack moved away from more traditional superyacht styling, developing an interior centered around livability and extended cruising. The design uses walnut joinery paired with blue and gray tones, drawing influence from Dutch Delftware themes that appear throughout the superyacht, including a hand-detailed dining room mural. A central staircase finished with glossy blue elements links all three decks and becomes one of the yacht’s visual focal points.

The layout accommodates ten guests across five cabins, led by a 37m² full-beam owner’s suite positioned on the main deck with 180-degree views forward. Two VIP cabins and two twin guest cabins sit below, while crew accommodation supports up to seven members.

Delivery Nears as Moonen Advances Current Projects

According to YachtBuyer MarketWatch, the largest yacht database in the world, Moonen presently has three yachts in build or on order, including the tenth hull in the 122 Martinique series, Moon Cane. Scheduled for delivery in 2027, the 37.4m project follows the same Martinique platform used by Lollipop, retaining the steel fast-displacement hull, 345GT volume, five-cabin arrangement, and 4,000nm cruising range.

Moon Cane introduces a different interior direction from her predecessor. Vripack has shifted toward warmer West Coast-inspired styling with light ash wood, soft oranges, and integrated social spaces including a walk-up bar in the main saloon and a second bar within the skylounge. A sculptural staircase with suspended hand-blown glass lighting forms the centerpiece of the interior.

Moon Cane is currently listed for sale with IYC at an asking price of €27,000,000, making it one of the few opportunities for buyers seeking near-term delivery within the Martinique range.
