Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement w/ bulbous bow steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 9.34m beam and a 2.6m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 445 GT (Gross Tonnes).

This was the first yacht built on the Crossover 42 design. Launched in May 2025 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months.

Exterior Design

Big Naan is part of the Columbus Crossover 42 line and carries Hydro Tec’s exterior styling with the purposeful stance of an explorer yacht. The steel hull and aluminium superstructure sit on a full displacement platform with a bulbous bow and flat, flared stern sections. Strong linear forms and forward volume give her a confident, modern profile.

A large, workmanlike aft deck doubles as a carry space for a substantial tender. The integrated starboard crane is specified to the tender size and can handle anything from a compact chase boat up to around 9m (29.5ft). For local cruising a tender can run as a chase boat or be towed, while for long passages it stows on the centreline.

A glass-sided seawater pool is built into the stern. It measures about 17 sqm (183 sq ft) and is impressively deep at roughly 2m (6.6ft). The system is designed around volume and practicality, emptying in about 5 minutes before passage and refilling in roughly 15 minutes when in use.

The beach club opens off the swim platform via a hydraulic door offset to starboard and benefits from large side windows plus the pool’s glass wall for natural light. The space is multi-purpose by design, set up here as a gym but equally suited to dive gear and water toys.

Wide side decks lead forward to a social bow lounge with seating and sunpads arranged in a Portuguese bridge-style layout. Heavy-duty deck gear includes twin capstans and oversized bollards. Wing stations are set port and starboard for close-quarters handling, and liferaft stowage is integrated on the upper deck.

Higher up, the upper aft deck serves as a relaxed outdoor lounge, while the sundeck runs the beam to deliver a large party and dining zone. There is a fully equipped bar with sink, refrigeration and icemaker, plus a TV that both retracts and swivels for viewing from different seating areas. Fixed shading covers the forward portion of the deck. All radars, antennas and satcom domes are grouped neatly on the mast with ladder access for service.

Her principal dimensions are about 42m (137.8ft) length overall and almost 9m (29.5ft) beam, translating into generous exterior footprints at every level. Range is set up for extended passages at economic speed, supporting real explorer use.

Designed for range, Big Naan can cruise over 5,500 nautical miles without refuel.

Interior Design

Hot Lab’s interior sets a calm, contemporary tone that mixes soft textures with technical finishes. Light oak-style flooring, pale marbles and metallic accents play against tactile elements like velvet panels and leather trims. Designer lighting is used throughout for ambience and to pull the eye through the spaces. Large side windows in the main saloon and the beach club’s glass pool wall bring daylight deep into the yacht.

The main saloon unites a lounge, a bar and a 12-seat dining table. A feature fireplace uses water vapour to create a realistic flame effect without heat, adding a cosy focal point. Joinery and storage are cleanly integrated with push-to-open hardware for an uncluttered look.

The galley is arranged for serious service with high-capacity cold storage, a full-height freezer, twin ovens, a large hob and powerful extraction. A dumbwaiter and a separate crew stair support discreet service flows to the upper pantry. The pantry itself provides additional refrigeration and staging space.

A media room on the upper deck functions as a cinema and gaming lounge with opening side doors on both sides and aft, so the entire space can be naturally ventilated or fully closed down as required. AV infrastructure is rack-mounted by VideoWorks in a dedicated server closet for easy maintenance.

The bridge is laid out with clear sightlines and traditional ship details alongside modern navigation systems. A captain’s cabin sits adjacent for immediate access during passages. Crew routing is separated from guest circulation via internal stairs, with a proper mess and laundry sized for extended time at sea.

Accommodation

Big Naan is arranged for 10 guests in fixed berths, with the option to sleep 11 using a pullman. The main deck hosts a full-beam owner’s suite with a central bed, desk, vanity and extensive wardrobe space behind touch-latch doors. The ensuite is divided into zones and features a large double shower.

On the lower deck there are four guest cabins. Three are configured as VIP doubles with generous ensuites, including twin sinks in the larger bathrooms. One cabin is convertible as a twin and adds a pullman to create a flexible triple when needed. Hidden TVs and integrated storage keep the cabins streamlined without sacrificing functionality.

Crew capacity is up to nine. Four twin-berth crew cabins with separate showers are located forward on the lower deck, complemented by a dedicated captain’s cabin beside the wheelhouse. A proper crew mess, a well-equipped laundry and abundant storage support long-range operations and comfortable downtime.

Performance & Capabilities

Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (C32 ACERT) 995hp engines, motor yacht Big Naan is capable of reaching a top speed of 14 knots, and comfortably cruises at 12 knots. With her 60,000 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 5,500 nautical miles at an economic speed of 10 knots.

On Big Naan, a 17 sqm pool shares space with a tender and crane without compromise.
