Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 11.5m beam. The yacht has an internal volume of 1,567 GT (Gross Tonnes). The design also incorporates a touch and go heli-pad.
Construction started in late 2021. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. Launched in May 2026 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months.
Exterior Design
The Damen 75m Hybrid is one of the more unconventional modern explorer yacht concepts to emerge from the Dutch expedition sector. Designed by Michael Leach Design in collaboration with Star Design Ltd and Damen Yachting, the yacht takes clear influence from commercial offshore and naval vessels rather than traditional luxury yacht forms.
From the profile, the design is dominated by an unusually long and open working deck aft, a forward-positioned superstructure and a tall angular mast structure that gives the yacht a distinctly industrial character. The hull sides remain clean and slab-like with minimal decorative shaping, while the dark glazing bands and geometric bridge windows reinforce the utilitarian look.
The bow is sharp, vertical and heavily enclosed, with very high bulwarks that strengthen the expedition aesthetic and suggest serious offshore capability. Long horizontal glazing sections cut through the deep blue hull sides and visually lower the yacht’s considerable volume, while the upper deck observation lounge uses triangulated structural glazing that resembles commercial bridge architecture more than conventional yacht styling.
One of the defining exterior features is the enormous aft mission deck. Viewed from above, this area occupies a substantial portion of the yacht’s overall length and functions more like a configurable expedition platform than a traditional leisure deck. The space supports storage and deployment of large tenders, equipment and modular systems, including removable battery containers and a modular swimming pool setup.
A heavy-duty crane positioned aft handles loads up to 14 tonnes and launches equipment including a 14.6m (47.9ft) fast tender, a 9m (29.5ft) utility craft and even a car. Once clear, the deck becomes a flexible open-air space for events, lounging or expedition staging.
The yacht also features a touch-and-go helipad integrated into the upper structure, supporting remote access and off-grid cruising operations.
All exterior decks use synthetic teak rather than natural teak, chosen for durability, lower maintenance demands and reduced environmental impact. Exterior spaces are intentionally broad and adaptable rather than densely furnished, with large open sections that can move between operational and leisure use depending on the voyage.
Interior Design
Interior design for the Damen 75m Hybrid was developed by Michael Leach Design in close collaboration with the owner and Star Design Ltd. The design brief focused heavily on self-sufficiency, operational practicality and long-duration exploration.
One of the most unusual interior elements is the integration of commercial-grade cultivation pods designed to grow fresh produce onboard. These systems allow vegetables and salad crops including tomatoes, cucumbers and lettuce to be cultivated during voyages, reducing dependence on shoreside provisioning.
Accommodation
The Damen 75m Hybrid accommodates up to 12 guests, including a dedicated owner’s deck and a VIP suite.
Additional guest accommodation is arranged across multiple cabins, although full cabin configuration details have not been publicly released.
Crew accommodation supports up to 24 personnel, including operational staff and specialists required for expedition cruising. The unusually high crew capacity reflects the yacht’s dual role as a luxury vessel and complex expedition platform.
