Intrepid is a 69.15m motor yacht delivered by Dutch shipyard Damen Yachting in 2016. Her naval architecture and exterior design comes from the drawing boards of Damen Yachting.

Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 11m beam and a 4m draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 1,128 GT (Gross Tonnes). The design also incorporates a heli-pad.
This was the sixty-ninth yacht built on the YS 6911 design. Launched in March 2016 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in June 2016.
Exterior Design
Intrepid is a support vessel in the clearest sense of the term. The first Damen Sea Axe 6911, she was developed from the earlier 67m platform after feedback from an owner who wanted more space and a more capable operating base alongside the mothership.
The exterior is dominated by the Sea Axe bow. It is unusually fine and steep for a vessel of this size, with the hull narrowing aggressively at the waterline before rising into a tall, almost ship-like forward section. The result is a very different profile from a conventional yacht, and one that immediately tells you this vessel was designed around offshore work rather than guest accommodation.
The superstructure is pushed well forward, which leaves most of the aft half free for operations. From above, that division is stark: bridge and crew spaces occupy the bow end, while the deck behind them is almost entirely given over to tenders, cranes, stores and aviation.
The helipad is the centrepiece. It sits right aft, clear of the bridge and mast, with a wide approach over the stern. The deck itself opens to give access to a sunken helicopter garage below, which was one of the major changes introduced when Damen developed the 6911 from the earlier 67m platform. That means the aircraft can be stored out of the weather rather than simply lashed down on deck.
A dedicated helicopter workshop sits alongside that system, so the aviation package is much more than a landing pad. Intrepid can carry, shelter and maintain a helicopter while still retaining working deck elsewhere for boats and other equipment.
The open deck area totals around 250m² (2,691ft²), and the photographs show how little of that is wasted. Tenders and utility boats sit amidships, cranes are positioned where they can reach both deck and water, and the aft helipad remains physically separate from the main boat-handling zone.
Operational Spaces
Intrepid was built as an extension of the mothership rather than as a second yacht with the same functions.
Below deck, around 110m² (1,184ft²) is devoted to storage, giving the crew somewhere to keep spare equipment, expedition gear and larger toys without filling the weather deck. A dedicated dive centre adds another specialist function.
That combination of open deck, internal storage and fixed technical spaces is what makes the 6911 more useful than a simple tender carrier. Helicopter operations, diving, tender handling and general logistics can all run from the same platform without one activity taking over the entire vessel.
The deck arrangement also gives the crew room to move equipment around. There is clear working space between the helicopter deck, tenders and cranes rather than a continuous line of tightly packed toys.
Accommodation
Intrepid was designed with accommodation for up to 21 crew or additional staff.
That is important because one of the jobs of a support vessel is to take pressure off the mothership. Specialist crew, pilots, dive staff, technicians and other operational personnel can live aboard Intrepid instead of occupying guest or crew cabins on the principal yacht.
The forward superstructure keeps that accommodation close to the bridge and away from the noisier working deck aft, while still leaving most of the vessel's length available for the equipment she was built to carry.

Powered by 4 x diesel MTU (16V 4000 M63L) 3,000hp engines, motor yacht Intrepid is capable of reaching a top speed of 21 knots, and comfortably cruises at 18 knots.
