Design & Construction

Designed around a semi-displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 11.85m beam and a 3.8m draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 2,107 GT (Gross Tonnes).

The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards.

Exterior Design

Ecstasea has an 86m (282.2ft) aluminium hull and superstructure designed by De Voogt, and the profile is long, low and driven by performance requirements so every line supports speed as well as stability. The hull form is refined to handle a combined output of over 43,000hp, while the proportions remain balanced across her length and 11.9m (39ft) beam.

The foredeck integrates a concealed helicopter hangar, where twin deck sections slide apart and a lift platform rises to form a landing area, and this engineering defines much of the forward structure. This space can also serve as a workshop or storage zone when the aircraft is deployed, so it adds flexibility beyond its primary role.

Up top, the sun deck is split between a steel helipad aft, marked with an ‘E’ for Ecstasea, and a teak leisure zone forward with sunloungers and a large spa pool, while adjustable shading allows control over light levels. The helipad also sits above the entertainment deck aft, which creates a covered outdoor dining space below with a 14-seat table and multiple seating zones.

A defining technical feature is the central exhaust structure for the gas turbine, which rises vertically through multiple decks and exits high above, and this dictates the external layout as well as internal planning. The mast also incorporates a two-seat observation platform, positioned high above deck level to give an elevated viewing point over the yacht’s surroundings.

At the stern, the most distinctive feature is the large central opening built into the transom, which houses the outlet for the Wärtsilä LJ210 water jet driven by the gas turbine. This “cut-out” allows the turbine’s thrust system to operate efficiently while sitting low in the hull. The surrounding aft platform and steps are arranged around this feature, so access to the water and tender operations are built into the same area.

Ecstasea represents the pinnacle of yacht engineering, blending speed, range, and stability with the refined luxury one expects from a Feadship-built vessel.

Interior Design

The interior by Terence Disdale is built around the idea of a relaxed family home, and the layout adapts to the constraints of the central exhaust shaft rather than hiding it. Instead of a traditional full-beam main saloon, the main deck uses a smaller aft lounge with large windows and direct access to an outdoor seating area, so the space works as a reception and day lounge.

From here, a wide passage leads forward past tender bays and around the turbine structure, and this route becomes a design feature with textured finishes including leather, oak, raffia and sculptural elements that turn circulation areas into gallery-like spaces.

The dining room sits forward with a 14-seat table set athwartships, while materials move away from formal yacht styling and use raw wood, bamboo and natural finishes to create a more informal setting. Throughout the yacht, surfaces mix polished and rough textures, and lighting is used to soften the overall feel.

On the entertainment deck, the main saloon is arranged around the structural core, with seating areas and a games table, while access to the aft deck is split to either side of the exhaust. Forward, a gym and massage room lead up to an observation saloon set on a raised level, and this space has panoramic forward views and can link privately to the master suite below.

Accommodation

Ecstasea accommodates up to 15 guests across multiple decks, with a layout shaped by both privacy and the yacht’s technical structure.

The master suite sits forward on the main deck and benefits from increased headroom due to the raised observation lounge above, and it connects via a private stair to that upper-level space, creating a duplex-style arrangement. The suite includes large windows, a dressing area and en suite facilities, while the observation lounge above can function as a private retreat.

Guest accommodation is located on the lower deck, where four large double cabins are arranged around a central lobby, and each cabin follows a different design theme including Japanese, African, Venetian and Millennium styles. Additional family cabins are positioned on the main deck forward of the dining area.

Crew accommodation is extensive, with capacity for up to 27 crew and staff across multiple cabins including dedicated quarters for the captain and helicopter pilots, so operations can match the yacht’s technical demands.

Service areas are equally developed, with a professional galley, crew mess and a dumbwaiter system linking service pantries across decks, while storage, refrigeration and laundry facilities sit on the lower levels to support long-range operation.

Performance & Capabilities

Ecstasea’s prowess lies in her engine room, where a potent combination of machinery enables her to reach speeds that are striking for a yacht of her magnitude. She is powered by four MTU 16V4000 M70 diesel engines, each producing 2,237kW, coupled with two MAAG gearboxes driving a pair of 1,600mm diameter Wärtsilä Controllable Pitch Propellers (CPP). This formidable diesel quartet is complemented by a 23,371kW General Electric LM2500 gas turbine, which is connected to a custom-built Wärtsilä LJ210 water jet – a setup that exerts a colossal 50,000 liters per second of water, propelling the yacht to her apex speeds.

Ecstasea's top speed exceeds 35 knots, with a cruising speed comfortably maintained at 30 knots. Her range is equally impressive, with a fuel capacity of 138,000 liters, she can cover approximately 5,000 nautical miles, ensuring extensive voyages without the frequent need for refueling.

The yacht's navigational capabilities are bolstered by sophisticated equipment, including dual Litton radars and a C.Plath gyrocompass & autopilot, ensuring precise and secure voyages. Communications are similarly advanced with an array of systems including NERA Fleet 77 and Sailor Inmarsat-C, providing reliable connectivity even while traversing remote seas.

Ecstasea's stability in motion is supported by a Rolls-Royce retractable stabilizer system, which operates to minimize the roll of the yacht, ensuring comfort and steadiness for passengers on board. Additionally, the yacht is equipped with a trio of 312kW MTU 2000 M50, 8V generators, and a Jastram bow thruster of 250kW, enhancing her maneuverability and self-sufficiency in all conditions.

The ship's onboard water is managed by a HEM desalination system, capable of producing 50,000 liters per day, ensuring a plentiful supply of fresh water during extended periods at sea.

Ecstasea’s technical aspects further include a robust air-conditioning system provided by Heinen & Hopman, alongside Steen windlasses and a comprehensive Hi-Fog firefighting system, underpinning the yacht’s commitment to both comfort and safety.

The yacht’s construction is of high-grade aluminium for both hull and superstructure, certified by Lloyd's 100A1 SSC Yacht (P), Mono HSC, G6, LMC, UMS, SCM classifications, which attests to her quality and seaworthiness.

Amenities

The yacht features a well-equipped gym, allowing her guests to keep up their fitness regimes at sea. Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort. Ecstasea also features a deck jacuzzi for cooling off.
