Design & Construction

Designed around a fast displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 31'6" beam and a 8'10" draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 760 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Construction started in late 2022 with the keel laid under the project name 'Project Venus'. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. Launched in January 2025 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was completed at Heesen's Oss yard in Netherlands where she was commissioned and delivered to her owners in May 2025.

Exterior Design

Solemates is the latest 55m (180.4ft) model in Heesen’s Steel series, carrying a GT of 760 and presenting a muscular, refined profile from Omega Architects. The hull form is by Van Oossanen, delivering efficient cruising and proven seakeeping, while the styling reflects Heesen’s recent refresh of the Steel platform.

Earlier vertical windows have given way to sweeping panes of uninterrupted glass, stretching the length of the superstructure. Continuous tinted glazing not only amplifies the connection between indoors and outdoors but also lends the profile a sharper, more dynamic edge. Horizontal lines emphasise length and balance the air draught, and the trademark triangular “shark tooth” detail above the wheelhouse remains, anchoring the series identity.

Deck spaces have been reconsidered to encourage togetherness. The sundeck is larger than before, its bar wrapping around the spa pool forward and accommodating a DJ booth for evenings of entertainment. Aft, canopy loveseats by Dedon create intimate shaded spots, while L-shaped sofas and loose chairs invite guests to sit facing each other rather than the sea, a layout designed to suit the owner’s love of conviviality. Elsewhere, the aft terrace links seamlessly to the beach club, and the bridge deck offers another relaxed lounge and dining area with elevated views. Practicality is preserved on the foredeck, which still carries tenders and toys, but the overall arrangement now prioritises flow and interaction.

Interior Design

Inside, Luca Dini Design & Architecture worked with stylist and long-time family collaborator Deborah Viger to create interiors that balance playfulness with sophistication. The décor is bright and characterful, with lively tones of lime green, teal, and aqua layered over oak, smoked oak, palisander cabinetry, soft leathers, and Italian-sourced marbles. Metallic fabrics from LcD, alabaster, crystals, and custom carpets add further depth. Each piece has been chosen to make an impression - the owner’s brief was clear that every space should contain a story, a special detail, or a moment of surprise.

The central staircase exemplifies this philosophy. Redesigned with shallower steps and deeper treads to support long-term ease of movement, it is finished with acrylic panels made in Paris, embedded with gold leaf and crystals in an ombre fade from gold to clear. Lit from behind, the effect is almost ethereal. Completing it became a race against time, with the last panels installed on the morning of launch.

The main saloon is deliberately modest in scale, encouraging guests to gather in a single convivial space. A Tom Faulkner coffee table in bronze and marble provides a centrepiece, while furniture from Christian Liaigre and custom tables from Dtales and Alexander Lamont add texture. The bridge deck saloon includes a sculptural oak-and-brass bridge table for the owner’s wife, a competitive player, and aft the custom dining table expands to seat all 12 guests together. Even the dayheads are small showcases, finished in onice grigio porcelain or alabaster inlays, each distinct.

The interiors flow easily, with mullion-free glazing ensuring uninterrupted ocean views. Colourful, tactile and alive with detail, the design reflects the owners’ wish for a yacht that is vibrant, personal, and built around family life.

Accommodation

Solemates accommodates up to 12 guests in six cabins, a step up from the earlier Steel layout. The full-beam owner’s suite lies forward on the main deck and now features a fixed starboard balcony that is always available without set-up. The suite also includes a spacious en suite bathroom, walk-in wardrobe, and an office alcove.

On the bridge deck, a VIP suite offers privacy with elevated views. Four guest cabins are set on the lower deck - two doubles and two twins. Beds are now arranged athwartships, a change that frees up more usable floor area and improves movement within the cabins. The arrangement suits larger families and is equally appealing for charter.

Crew spaces have been improved too. A larger pantry on the main deck makes service more efficient, while a forward staircase provides direct crew access to the sundeck. With 13 crew on board, operations are supported at every level, ensuring guests experience attentive service while staff enjoy a practical, well-planned working environment.
