The second Mengi Yay Virtus XP has been launched at the builder's Tuzla shipyard in Istanbul. The custom motor yacht features interior and exterior design by VYD Studio, naval architecture by Van Oossanen Naval Architects, and a steel hull and aluminium superstructure with 499GT of internal volume.
A sub-500GT explorer yacht built for global cruising
Amphib II continues Mengi Yay's Virtus XP platform, showcasing expedition capability with the internal volume of a custom superyacht while remaining below the important 500GT benchmark. Constructed on a displacement hull, the yacht has been designed for unrestricted navigation and long-distance cruising, with Ice Class certification allowing operation in more demanding environments. Built to RINA C+ Hull • Mach Ych classification, she also complies with REG Yacht Code, Comfort Class, Green Plus and Helicopter Landing Area Certification.
Outdoor spaces prioritise exploration and owner comfort
Designed to maximise time spent outdoors, Amphib II features a 98-square-metre pool deck directly accessible from the owner's suite, creating a private retreat on board. An integrated helipad provides convenient access to the owner's deck, while a spacious beach club, panoramic sundeck and bridge deck lounge offer additional areas for relaxation. Dedicated tender storage with a four-tonne crane further supports the motor yacht's long-range cruising ambitions.
Minimalist interiors centred around a private owner's retreat
Both the interior and exterior styling have been developed by VYD Studio, which has adopted a contemporary, minimalist aesthetic featuring soft neutral tones, textured finishes and smoked chevron-pattern wood flooring. Accommodation is arranged for up to 10 guests across five cabins, with the owner's suite occupying the upper deck. Two VIP cabins are positioned on the main deck, while two further guest cabins on the lower deck provide flexible sleeping arrangements. Separate accommodation is provided for a crew of nine.
Diesel-electric propulsion delivers long-range autonomy
Twin 1,450hp Caterpillar C32 diesel-electric engines give Amphib II a cruising speed of 12 knots and a maximum speed of 15 knots. With approximately 65,000 litres of fuel capacity and 15,000 litres of freshwater storage, the yacht has been developed for extended cruising with transatlantic range. With a 9.48-metre beam and 2.6-metre draft, the displacement yacht offers 499GT of internal volume.
Following her launch, Amphib II will now progress through outfitting, systems integration, harbour trials and sea trials before delivery. The milestone marks another step forward for Mengi Yay's growing portfolio of custom explorer yachts and the continued development of its Virtus XP series.
