Both the interior and exterior design of the Extra Yacht, along with the naval architecture, were developed by Lorenzo Berselli of Agon Studio, shaping a project centered on versatility and purposeful design.
The lower deck of the first X70 Shadow reflects its role as a support platform while maintaining the comfort expected of a leisure yacht. The arrangement includes a double guest cabin with an en-suite bathroom, providing accommodation for visiting guests or crew from a mothership.
A distinctive feature of the interior is the full-beam gym located amidships. Positioned in the central section of the lower deck, the space benefits from natural light through a large floor-to-ceiling aft window that overlooks the cockpit. This connection to the exterior brightens the interior and gives the room a sense of openness unusual for a motor yacht of this size.
The gym can be accessed directly from the exterior deck as well as from the lower corridor. When required, the area can also be transformed into a relaxed lifestyle space using freestanding furniture, adding another layer of flexibility to the layout.
The defining feature of the exterior layout is the expansive aft cargo deck. Measuring around 40 square meters, this area sits directly at water level and can carry a wide variety of equipment depending on the owner’s requirements. On the first unit, the space will house two jet skis alongside a 6.5-meter sailing boat, demonstrating the yacht’s role as a support platform capable of transporting auxiliary craft and water toys for a larger superyacht.
Fold-down bulwarks on either side expand the usable deck width and open the space to the sea, improving views and enhancing the connection with the surrounding environment. At the bow, the helm station sits beside an enclosed dining area framed by 360-degree glazing. This forward lounge provides panoramic views while also serving as a sheltered space for guests during navigation.
The X70 Shadow is powered by twin Volvo Penta IPS D13 1350 engines, each producing 1,000 horsepower. This propulsion package enables the yacht to reach a top speed of around 30 knots while maintaining a cruising speed of approximately 26 knots.
The 21m X70 Shadow occupies a strategic position within the Extra Yachts portfolio. It sits between the 17m Extra X56 Fast and the 27m Extra X90 Fast, placing it close to the Fast series in terms of scale, GRP construction, and planing performance. At the same time, the model introduces ideas typically associated with the larger Triplex line. The 30m Extra X100 Triplex and 40m Extra X130 Triplex focus on greater internal volume and longer cruising capability, while the X70 Shadow remains a planing yacht centered on speed and operational flexibility.
