The project pairs naval architecture by Hydro Tec, led by Sergio Cutolo, with an interior concept from BurdissoCapponi Yachts & Design. The steel-hulled yacht expands on the exterior design first presented at the Monaco Yacht Show 2025.
Establishing a Distinct Explorer Identity with Two Interior Expressions
The Explorer 34M has been conceived to sit apart from Ocean King’s Doge series. While retaining the yard’s core DNA, the yacht adopts a more assertive spatial framework rooted in a Brutalist design language.
A recurring square grid motif underpins the concept. This matrix structures walls and ceilings, defines volumes, and establishes a disciplined architectural rhythm throughout the interior. Rather than serving as decoration, the grid operates as an organizing principle. Vertical metal mesh partitions replace traditional solid bulkheads in selected areas, introducing separation without full enclosure. Semi-transparent surfaces preserve sightlines and continuity, avoiding rigid compartmentalization while still maintaining intimacy where needed.
Within this fixed architectural framework, Ocean King presents two curated interior directions for the motor yacht.
- Bordeaux version - Centered on deep burgundy tones, introducing warmth and a more dramatic atmosphere.
- Green version - Adopts natural hues and subtle maritime references, creating a quieter and more restrained character.
Each scheme is supported by its own moodboard, demonstrating how a consistent structural language can accommodate distinct tonal identities.
Grids, Mesh, and Structural Clarity
Material research plays a central role in shaping the explorer yacht’s identity. Cement-finished walls and ceilings reference Brutalist architecture, emphasizing raw texture and structural clarity. The cement is presented as an eco-conscious material choice, reinforcing the yacht’s explorer ethos.
Perforated metal surfaces appear prominently, including in stateroom headboard panels. Textured finishes evoke the robustness associated with ocean-going vessels, yet detailing remains refined.
A structured square grid defines the spaces, softened by circular lighting geometries and permeable metal mesh partitions, an industrial vocabulary reinterpreted through a contemporary lens."

Mesh screens extend vertically through certain volumes, doubling as storage while incorporating integrated backlighting. In areas such as the master suite, these elements introduce depth and a technical edge in the superyacht without overwhelming the space. The designers have also specified decorative wall fixtures from DCW Éditions, reinforcing the interior’s luxury-industrial tone.
Light as an Architectural Tool
Lighting is treated as part of the structural language rather than an afterthought. Concealed linear strips are integrated behind grid elements to emphasize geometry and highlight key architectural lines.
Tubular lighting features form circular compositions that counterbalance the orthogonal framework. Adjustable spotlights are built directly into these tubular structures, delivering focused illumination where required. Exposed circular lighting geometries overhead soften the disciplined grid and introduce visual contrast.
This interplay between square and circle is repeated throughout the superyacht. Circular sofas in the main saloon, rounded dining and bedside tables, and curved seating arrangements temper the interior’s rigidity. The dialogue between strong geometry and softer forms defines the overall atmosphere.
Five Staterooms
With a gross tonnage of just under 300 GT, the Explorer 34M accommodates up to 10 guests across five staterooms. A captain and four crew are housed in three cabins, supporting extended cruising.
Spatial planning prioritizes continuity. Features such as a “transparent” walk-in wardrobe and open side cabinetry in the saloon illustrate the philosophy of integrating functional zones into a broader spatial flow rather than enclosing them behind opaque doors.
The expedition yacht’s overall proportions - 34 meters in length with a 7.8-meter beam and a draft of 2.3 meters at half load - reinforce her explorer credentials while maintaining manageable scale.
Explorer Credentials
Hydro Tec’s naval architecture defines the yacht’s purposeful exterior, characterized by a high, squared bow and full-displacement steel hull with a bulbous bow. A light alloy superstructure reduces weight aloft.
Power comes from either twin 714-hp Caterpillar engines or twin 788-hp MAN engines. Top speed is expected to reach 13 knots, with a cruising speed around 12 knots. At 10 knots, the yacht is projected to deliver a range of approximately 4,000 nautical miles, reinforcing her long-distance capability.
By aligning naval architecture, engineering, and interior design under a cohesive framework, the yard positions the Explorer 34M as a technically driven platform with a defined aesthetic stance. Construction is available on contract, with the concept now fully articulated both outside and within.
