Ducale 37 Introduces a New Design Direction for Ocean King
Measuring 36.58m in length with an 8.2m beam, the Ducale 37 introduces a noticeably different exterior profile from Ocean King's more traditional explorer yachts.
VYD Studio has developed a cleaner, more streamlined appearance, characterized by pronounced horizontal lines, extensive glazing, and carefully proportioned exterior volumes. The design retains the substantial proportions associated with expedition yachts but introduces a lighter appearance through its elongated windows and uninterrupted surfaces.
Paolo Dose, designer at VYD Studio, explained that the project was intended to develop Ocean King's existing identity rather than replace it. Particular attention was given to the yacht's proportions, the relationship between its interior and exterior spaces, and maintaining the practical characteristics of a long-range explorer.
Beneath its contemporary exterior, the Ducale 37 retains a conventional explorer construction. Its full-displacement steel hull features a bulbous bow, while the aluminum superstructure is intended to reduce weight above the main deck. The naval architecture, developed by Arrabito Naval Architects and Italtecnica, supports the yacht's intended long-distance cruising capabilities.
Ocean King Ducale 37 Features Large Aft Pool and Extensive Glazing
One of the Ducale 37's principal design features is its substantial swimming pool, positioned at the stern as the focal point of the outdoor guest areas. Rather than treating the aft deck primarily as a functional working area, the designers have allocated considerable space to relaxation and outdoor living. The pool anchors a waterside terrace intended to bring guests closer to the surrounding environment.
The exterior design also emphasizes uninterrupted views, with extensive glazing extending across the superstructure and helping to visually reduce the yacht's substantial volumes.
Inside the superyacht, VYD Studio has followed a similar approach, prioritizing natural light and direct connections between the principal guest areas. The interior arrangement is intended to establish a sense of openness while retaining the practical layout required for extended cruising. Large windows allow daylight to reach the principal living spaces, reinforcing the relationship between the interior and the surrounding sea.
Inside the Ocean King Ducale 37's Five-Cabin Layout
The Ducale 37 has been designed to accommodate 10 guests across five cabins, comprising an owner's suite, two VIP cabins, and two additional guest cabins. The arrangement of the motor yacht provides considerable flexibility for private ownership, with the two VIP cabins offering additional accommodation for family members or guests.
Separate crew accommodation has been planned for seven people. Six crew members will occupy three cabins fitted with bunk beds, while the captain will have a dedicated cabin.
Ducale 37 Targets 14-Knot Top Speed and a 4,000-Nautical-Mile Range
Designed for long-distance cruising, the Ducale 37 has a projected half-load displacement of approximately 360 tonnes, with an expected top speed of 14 knots and a cruising speed of 11 knots. At an economical speed of 10 knots, Ocean King estimates a range of approximately 4,000 nautical miles.
Propulsion will come from MAN V12 engines designed to meet IMO Tier III emissions standards, although the final engine configuration has yet to be confirmed. The yacht will have a 2.45m draft, with tank capacities of 40,000 liters of fuel and 7,000 liters of fresh water.
Ocean King Confirms Two Larger Ducale Explorer Yachts
The Ducale 37 leads a new three-model series, with Ocean King also confirming plans for a 49m explorer and a larger 799 gross ton yacht. Further details on both models, including their layouts and technical specifications, have yet to be announced.
The announcement follows the unveiling of the Ocean King Explorer 34M's interior earlier this year. Designed by BurdissoCapponi Yachts & Design, the 34m explorer features bold geometric patterns, industrial materials, and two alternative color schemes, alongside a proposed range of 4,000 nautical miles.
With three new Ducale models planned, Ocean King is expanding its explorer yacht portfolio, introducing contemporary styling and new onboard living arrangements across a broader range of sizes.
