Design & Construction
Designed around a fast displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 12.5m beam and a 3.6m draft. The yacht is built over 6 decks with an internal volume of 2,175 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Construction started in late 2024 with the keel laid under the project name 'Project Zurich'. This was the third yacht built on the Amels 80 design. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. Launched in March 2026 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was completed at Amels' Damen Shipyard Galati yard in Romania where she was commissioned and delivered to her owners in July 2026.
Exterior Design
Germaine is the third yacht built on the Amels 80 platform, the flagship of Damen Yachting's Limited Editions range and the latest step in a concept that has reshaped large yacht construction since its introduction in 2005. The programme starts with a fully engineered and extensively tested platform, leaving owners free to personalise the layout, interior and many exterior details without the time and technical risk of commissioning a completely new 80-metre design. The Amels 80 also responds to changing owner priorities, with larger outdoor spaces, a dedicated wellness deck and far greater use of structural glass than earlier Limited Editions models.
Espen Øino's design makes those changes appear effortless. Long horizontal deck lines, deeply recessed glazing and carefully controlled overhangs reduce the apparent height of the yacht, so her 2,175GT reads as a long, elegant silhouette instead of a towering white structure. The near-vertical bow remains unmistakably Amels, but the longer hull allows the profile to breathe, with softer transitions between each deck and more generous spacing that gives the yacht a quieter, more composed character than her predecessors.
Close up, the detailing becomes even more interesting. Faceted aluminium surfaces create changing bands of light and shadow across the superstructure, while sections of the bulwarks have been lowered to improve views from inside without interrupting the clean sheer line. The bridge wings grow naturally from the deck edge, avoiding the bulky appearance found on many yachts of similar size, and the stern narrows deck by deck until it meets the water, keeping the aft end remarkably light despite the substantial accommodation above.
The aft decks revolve around the sea. A 6.5m (21.3ft) glass-bottomed swimming pool dominates the main deck, sending daylight into the wellness area below, while fold-down terraces transform the beach club into a three-sided waterside lounge. Above, the 200m² (2,153ft²) sundeck provides enough space for multiple seating areas, a large Jacuzzi and open-air entertaining without feeling crowded.
Interior Design
Germaine's interior remains private, although Damen has confirmed it was developed around a highly individual owner's brief with a contemporary art collection woven into the design from the outset. The artwork forms part of the architecture, giving each space its own identity while maintaining a calm, understated atmosphere throughout the yacht.
Although the finishes remain confidential, the platform itself reveals much about the experience on board. Full-height glazing surrounds the principal guest spaces, skylights introduce natural light deep into the interior, and the broad beam allows generous living areas with uninterrupted views across the water. The glass-bottomed pool also becomes part of the interior architecture, drawing daylight into the spa deck below and creating a visual connection between two of the yacht's most important social spaces.
The Limited Editions concept allows every owner to approach the interior differently once the engineering platform is complete, so no two Amels 80s share the same character. Germaine continues that tradition with a bespoke layout and design that remain known only to her owner and guests.
Accommodation
Germaine accommodates up to 14 guests in seven suites, with accommodation arranged to make full use of the Amels 80's substantial internal volume while preserving the generous outdoor spaces that define the platform. Large windows throughout the guest areas strengthen the connection with the sea and bring natural light deep into the accommodation.
Twenty crew plus the captain support operations on board, with dedicated crew routes and service areas planned to maintain privacy throughout extended cruising.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (3516E A02) 2,682hp engines running at 1600rpm, motor yacht Germaine is capable of reaching a top speed of 16 knots, and comfortably cruises at 12 knots. With her 52,000 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 5,000 nautical miles at 12 knots.
