Both yachts belong to Valve founder Gabe Newell and now form part of his Inkfish fleet, operating together as companion vessels designed to support scientific expeditions and marine research. The display at the MYS also comes just over a year after Newell joined Oceanco in July 2025, following his acquisition of the shipyard.
A Different Vision for Large Yacht Operations
Although differing in size and purpose, Leviathan and Draak were developed around the same operational philosophy. Rather than separating guest and crew functions in the traditional way, both projects prioritize practical workflows, shared spaces and facilities that support extended expeditions.
Oceanco says the yachts were designed through a highly collaborative process involving owners, designers, engineers and operational teams from the earliest stages of development.
Chief Executive Officer Marcel Onkenhout said every owner brings a different vision to the shipyard, adding that the two yachts demonstrate how collaboration continues to shape Oceanco's approach to custom yacht building.
Leviathan: Designed Around People
Monaco will offer visitors the opportunity to see the 111m Leviathan following her delivery in November 2025, after she made headlines following the release of her interior earlier this year.
Designed by Oceanco alongside Lateral Naval Architects, with interiors by Mark Berryman Design, the yacht departs from many conventional superyacht layouts. Shared dining and social spaces replace more formal arrangements, while crew facilities receive the same level of attention as guest areas.
With a gross tonnage of 4,970GT, Leviathan supports Inkfish's research activities through dedicated onboard facilities including a dive center, laboratory, hospital and 3D printing workshop. A diesel-electric propulsion system with twin ABB Azipods and a 5.5MWh battery installation allows quieter operation while improving overall efficiency during extended voyages.
Draak: Built to Back Leviathan
Alongside Leviathan, Monaco visitors will also see Draak, formerly known as Equanimity and later Tranquility, following an extensive rebuild completed by Oceanco's Life Cycle Support division in June 2026. Originally delivered in 2014 as one of the world's first Passenger Yacht Code-compliant superyachts, Draak has been comprehensively reconfigured to serve as a dedicated support vessel within the Inkfish fleet.
The project extended far beyond a cosmetic refit. Oceanco removed the upper aft helipad to create a heavy-duty tender deck, added a 12.6-ton crane for equipment handling and converted the former beach club and spa into a fully equipped dive center complete with a decompression chamber. The main salon has also been transformed into a crew mess, while additional accommodation has been created for specialist expedition personnel.
The rebuild also brought Draak into closer alignment with Leviathan, adopting similar operational principles and a matching light grey exterior finish.
Built to Operate as One Fleet
Rather than functioning as independent motor yachts, Leviathan and Draak have been designed to work together. Leviathan serves as the primary platform for research, living and expedition activities, while Draak provides logistical support, diving infrastructure, tender operations and additional crew capacity. Oceanco says many of the operational concepts first introduced aboard Leviathan have now been carried across to the rebuilt support yacht.
According to Newell, Inkfish works alongside scientists to understand what resources are needed before developing technology, infrastructure and funding to help remove barriers to marine research.
Monaco Display Marks New Phase for Oceanco
The Monaco Yacht Show appearance also highlights Oceanco's broader direction under Newell's ownership. Over the past year the company has expanded its group of specialist businesses with the addition of Alewijnse and Winel, joining Aluship, Lateral and Mercury within the wider Oceanco ecosystem.

The shipyard says the enlarged network will allow it to draw on a broader range of engineering and technical expertise across future new-build and life cycle support projects.
Leviathan and Draak will be displayed throughout the Monaco Yacht Show at the cruise terminal, where they are expected to be among the event's largest and most closely watched exhibits.
