Named Gloriamaris, the second VisionF E-Cat 80 catamaran was built in carbon fiber at the yard’s Tuzla facility and is now preparing for extended cruising, with plans to head for the Red Sea this winter.
The VisionF E-Cat 80 is built as a lightweight, solar-electric cruising catamaran, with exterior lines drawn by Marco Casali of TOO Design. The profile is clean and contemporary, with restrained surfaces and wide deck areas that emphasize stability and usable outdoor space rather than visual drama.
Owner-driven upgrades for exploration
As a semi-custom model, the E-Cat 80 allows owners to tailor layout and systems, and Gloriamaris makes full use of that flexibility. One of the most distinctive additions is a dedicated music room on the flybridge, fitted with both a piano and a harp. Positioned above the main living spaces, the room is intended as a quiet retreat rather than a social hub, reinforcing the yacht’s role as a personal cruising platform.
Energy autonomy was another key focus. The owner specified additional solar panels beyond the standard configuration, increasing onboard generation capacity and further reducing reliance on generators. This supports longer periods of fully electric operation at anchor or under way, particularly in warm, sunny cruising regions.
Diving capability also played a central role in the customization brief. A custom dive cabinet was installed to securely store scuba tanks and connect directly to a high-capacity air and nitrox compressor. The system allows fast refills on board without the need for shore support, an important consideration for remote itineraries and extended time away from marinas.
One reason I got a bigger boat is because I want to travel to very remote parts of the world, and this should be the platform that makes it happen.
Owner
Owner Gregg Hamann, who previously cruised on a 50-foot sailing catamaran, sees the E-Cat 80 as a step-change in capability. His plans include summers in the Mediterranean, winters in the Red Sea, and longer-term ambitions to explore the Indian Ocean and other remote regions.
Warm, restrained interiors with adaptable cabin layouts
Inside, the E-Cat 80 adopts a warm, restrained interior style centered on neutral tones and simple material contrasts. Premium vinyl woods and marble detailing are used throughout, creating a calm, consistent atmosphere rather than a highly decorative aesthetic.
Large windows and the wide catamaran beam contribute to a strong sense of space in the main saloon and guest areas, while circulation between interior and exterior zones is straightforward and practical, reflecting the yacht’s cruising-first design brief.
The platform can be configured with between four and six staterooms, depending on owner preference. In its full guest configuration, the yacht accommodates up to 10 guests, making it suitable for private family use or light charter operations where permitted.
Beyond exploration, Gloriamaris was conceived as a true family yacht. The owner intends to cruise with his grandchildren and designed the layout with younger guests in mind. A dedicated kids’ room is included, alongside clearly defined, safe activity areas throughout the motor yacht.
A versatile flybridge design
The open flybridge is one of the E-Cat 80’s defining features. It is arranged into four distinct seating and activity zones, with options that can include an outdoor cinema, massage seating, sun loungers, and the jacuzzi fitted on Gloriamaris. This deck is designed to adapt between quiet cruising days, family use, and social evenings at anchor.
Aft, the yacht incorporates a 15-square-meter tender garage with a hydraulic stern hatch. The space is equipped with an electric winch, secure tie-downs, a freshwater shower, waterproof lighting, and a 230 VAC outlet. The garage is sized to carry a wide selection of water toys while keeping launch and recovery operations simple and safe.
Propulsion comes from twin 180 kW electric motors supplied by Danfoss. The setup delivers smooth, quiet cruising and strong low-speed control, with typical cruising speeds in the 6 to 8-knot range. Manoeuvrability is a key strength, particularly in close-quarters handling and harbor operations.
