The yacht was handed over to her owner’s company, Gamma Yachts, at the group’s Marina di Carrara facility and represents a milestone in the integration of Perini Navi under TISG’s ownership.
New Flagship for a Renewed Perini Navi
Since acquiring Perini Navi in January 2022, The Italian Sea Group has embarked on a comprehensive development plan to revitalize the historic sailing brand. The delivery of Katana is the clearest expression of this effort to date. Combining high craftsmanship with modern construction techniques, Katana reflects TISG’s goal to reestablish Perini Navi as a leader in the large sailing yacht segment.

With this yacht, we reaffirm our commitment to excellence. Here, tradition and innovation coexist in perfect harmony.”

The Italian Sea Group
The yacht was launched in November 2024 and completed sea trials earlier this year. She now joins a growing fleet of new-generation Perini Navi yachts, helping to reinforce TISG’s standing among the top builders of both sailing and motor yachts up to 140 meters.
Design and Construction of Katana
Built with a full displacement steel hull and an aluminum superstructure, Katana has a beam of 11.4 meters, a draft of 12.3 meters, and a gross tonnage of 491 GT. Naval architecture of the motor yacht was developed by Ron Holland Design, with the exterior design executed in-house by Perini Navi.

Her sailing systems include carbon fiber masts and rigging from Southern Spars, along with a structural carbon bowsprit. The superyacht features a retractable keel for variable draft performance and is equipped with a dynamic positioning system that maintains her position without the need to anchor - enhancing both environmental sensitivity and operational versatility.
Katana is powered by twin MTU 8V 2000 M72 diesel engines delivering a combined 1,932 horsepower. She reaches a top speed of 15.5 knots and cruises comfortably at around 12.5 knots. Fuel capacity stands at 47,500 liters, with freshwater storage of 12,000 liters - supporting her extended cruising capability.
Subtle Elegance by Rémi Tessier
The yacht’s interiors were created by renowned French designer Rémi Tessier and constructed by Metrica, a German outfitter known for their precise, high-end craftsmanship. The overall aesthetic leans toward subtle sophistication, with custom furnishings and bespoke detailing throughout. Tessier’s design ethos favors calm elegance over ostentation, creating a sense of harmony across guest and social spaces.

Accommodation is provided for up to 12 guests in six staterooms: an owner’s suite, two double cabins, two twins, and a sixth cabin that can be configured as either twin or double. The yacht also carries up to nine crew to ensure a high level of service while underway or at anchor.
Looking Ahead
The delivery of Katana signals more than just the handover of a flagship yacht - it reflects a clear direction for Perini Navi under The Italian Sea Group. As the brand continues its revival, YachtBuyer Intelligence reports that Perini Navi currently has five yachts in build, including the 58-meter Amante and Fantasy, both scheduled for delivery in 2025 with volumes of 800 GT apiece.

With Katana now at sea and a solid order book in progress, Perini Navi appears well-positioned to regain its stature in the world of large sailing yachts - fusing Italian heritage with a sharpened, forward-looking vision.
