Presented during a press conference at the show, the new W-86 multihull yacht measures 26m (85.3ft) in length with a 12.25m (40.2ft) beam and introduces a number of features aimed at combining the volume and stability of a power catamaran with a high degree of owner personalization.
Among the headline features of the new GranOcean are full-height forward glazing at the bow and an owner's cabin positioned separately on the upper deck with its own private balcony.
Introducing the GranOcean W-86
With the first W-86 hull already committed, the W-86 represents the next step in the GranOcean W-Series development, extending the range into the mid-80ft category.
Leading the W-86's technical package are twin Caterpillar C32 diesels with a lithium battery bank and integrated solar generation, supporting the yacht's intended long-range and self-sufficient cruising capabilities.
Making a striking impression from the off, the full-height glazing at the forward end of the yacht is one of its most distinctive design elements, extending the view from the bow across the water and creating a more open visual connection with the sea.
The owner's accommodation takes a different approach to the conventional lower-deck master suite, with the cabin positioned on the upper deck and separated from the remaining guest accommodation. A private balcony provides an additional exterior area directly connected to the owner's space for that extra level of indulgence.
With the owner's cabin isolated on the upper deck with its own private balcony, we're giving owners a level of separation and privacy you just don't see at this length.

How Does the W-86 Compare With the W-72?
The W-86 joins the W-72 as the larger model in GranOcean's W-Series, with a 26m LOA compared with the W-72's 21.98m. The new motor yacht is also wider, measuring 12.25m across the beam against 10m for the W-72.
The additional size gives GranOcean more scope to develop the W-86 around larger living spaces and a more substantial upper-deck arrangement, most notably the separately positioned owner's cabin and private balcony.
The GranOcean W-72 is offered with either an open or enclosed flybridge and can be configured around several different layouts, including an owner's suite occupying one hull. Galley positioning, cabin configuration, furniture layout, and tender storage can also be adapted as part of the semi-custom approach.
The W-86 takes that flexibility into a larger platform while introducing a different approach to the owner's accommodation. Rather than simply increasing the dimensions of the existing W-72 format, GranOcean has used the additional space to create a more separated private area on the upper deck.
The two models therefore share the same underlying emphasis on customization, generous volume and power-catamaran stability, while the W-86 moves the concept into a larger size category.
GranOcean Updates the X-32
The W-86 was not the only new development discussed by GranOcean at the Cannes Yachting Festival, with the builder also providing an update on its X-32 flagship.
The 32m all-carbon-fiber catamaran is already under construction and is scheduled to launch later this year. Unlike the semi-custom W-Series, the X-32 has been conceived as a fully bespoke platform, allowing the yacht to be developed around highly individual owner requirements.
Potential features include an expansive owner's apartment, a swimming pool at the bow, twin garages for tenders and water toys, and helipad capability.
The X-32 forms part of GranOcean's larger X-Series of fully custom power catamarans, which sits above the semi-custom W-Series in the builder's current portfolio. The company has also recently expanded its production capacity with a new 300,000-square-foot facility in Zhuhai, supporting both its W-Series and fully custom X-Series projects.
