Ares Yachts Launches 62m Flagship Sailing Yacht Simena Ahead of 2025 MYS Debut

Ares Yachts has launched its first superyacht, the 62m sailing yacht Simena, marking the Turkish shipyard’s debut in the 60-meter-plus category.

Built at the Antalya facility, Simena will complete final outfitting and sea trials before making her world premiere at the Monaco Yacht Show 2025, held from 24 to 27 September.

At 62 meters, Simena enters the global top 25 for longest sailing superyachts. The yacht features a ketch rig and a hybrid steel-carbon composite construction. Built to RINA Charter Class C standards, she is designed for long-range bluewater cruising with a focus on performance, efficiency, and comfort.

Exterior by Taka Yacht Design, Interior by Design Unlimited

Simena's classic sailing yacht profile was drawn by Taka Yacht Design, with a high-volume hull and ketch rig designed for stability and ocean-going capability. Traditional teak decks and varnished sipo mahogany exterior detailing nod to early 20th-century sailing yachts.

The interior by UK-based Design Unlimited contrasts that tradition with a contemporary palette. Accommodation is provided for 12 guests and 9 crew, with the owner’s suite situated forward on the main deck. Interior materials include walnut cabinetry, layered leather textures, and antiqued brass accents. Bathrooms feature patterned tiles, Calacatta Oro and Patagonia White marbles. Modern additions such as TV lifts in the saloon and master suite are subtly integrated to preserve the timeless character of the superyacht.

Low-Impact Performance with Dual Electric and Diesel Modes

Simena is powered by a hybrid drive system that supports quiet cruising at up to 6 knots under electric propulsion alone. Her main diesel engine delivers 882 kW (1,183 hp) and supplements two 220 kW electric motors, allowing for a top speed of 14.5 knots. At her cruising speed of 11 knots, the yacht has a transatlantic range of 4,000 nautical miles.

This system offers flexible operation modes and reduced environmental impact, in line with the demands of modern bluewater sailing. The yacht’s design and build emphasize autonomy, range, and onboard comfort whether under sail or power.

Debut Set for Monaco Yacht Show 2025

Simena will make her official debut at the 2025 Monaco Yacht Show, where she will represent Ares Yachts’ first entry into the international superyacht sector.

Ares Expands Order Book with Two 2027 Superyacht Builds

Simena leads a growing portfolio for ARES Yachts. According to YachtBuyer Market Watch & Intelligence, Ares' order book includes two additional custom builds scheduled for 2027 delivery: the 70-meter Project Opal and the 50.6-meter Spitfire. Both reflect the shipyard’s focus on performance, hybrid propulsion, and design flexibility.

Project Opal, designed in-house with naval architecture by Mulder Design, is a 1,400 GT steel and aluminum motor yacht with a 13-meter beam and refined exterior lines. Key features include a helipad, a beach club with transformer platform, and an upper deck that can be configured as a private owner’s area. Accommodation is arranged for 14 guests across seven suites, and propulsion options range from hybrid to high-speed Voith Linear Jets.
