Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 7.44m beam and a 2.4m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 283 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Exterior Design
Calypso is a classic 38.4m (126ft) Feadship motor yacht, and her profile keeps the yard’s traditional lines intact, with a long sheer, balanced superstructure and a working foredeck that reflects her original brief. The white hull and superstructure keep the look clean, while the proportions feel solid and purposeful rather than stylised.
The aft deck links directly into a covered lounge space, and it sits close to the waterline, so it works as a social area with easy access to the swim platform. Above, the upper deck carries a mix of open and shaded space, with loose seating, sun awnings and a clear area for tenders and toys, which remain visible in the layout.
The bridge deck is set forward with wide side decks running the length of the yacht, and the glazing is modest in size, in keeping with her era, while still giving good visibility from inside. The mast structure rises cleanly above, with radar and communications equipment grouped tightly.
Up top, the sundeck is open and flexible, with space for loungers, loose furniture and water toys, and the deck layout leaves room for casual use rather than fixed installations. Across all levels, the teak decks and railings keep a consistent, traditional finish.
Interior Design
The interior has evolved through several refits, with a major programme completed in 2024, so the current layout focuses on usability and family use, while still respecting the yacht’s original character. Much of the structure was stripped back to steel and aluminium during earlier works, which allowed headroom and usable volume to improve across the main spaces.
Wood finishes remain central, with teak and warm tones shaping the main rooms, while updated systems, air handling and lighting sit behind the scenes. The main saloon has been opened up by removing large built-in cabinetry, which increases usable floor space and improves flow between seating and dining areas.
A new on-deck master suite was introduced during refit works, along with a study and a dedicated wine storage area, and these additions shift the layout toward longer stays on board. The galley, crew areas and technical spaces have also been rebuilt, so the yacht runs on modern systems even though the styling stays classic.
Accommodation
Calypso accommodates up to 10 to 12 guests, depending on configuration, across a layout that has been adapted during refits to suit family use.
The main deck master suite forms part of the newer arrangement, with added space for a study and storage, while guest cabins sit below deck and include a mix of doubles and twins. Earlier bunk-style layouts have been replaced in parts with larger cabins, so guest spaces now feel more open and flexible.
A smaller themed cabin, often referred to as the “Harry Potter room,” for kids.
Crew accommodation has also been rebuilt during refit periods, with updated cabins, heads and service areas to support modern operation and longer cruising.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (D379) 600hp engines, motor yacht Calypso is capable of reaching a top speed of 13 knots, and comfortably cruises at 10 knots. With her 44,668 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 7,000 nautical miles at 10 knots.
Amenities
A gym with all the latest equipment allows her guests to keep their workout routines while at sea. In addition, a swim platform provides easy access to the ocean. Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort. The sundeck is the social hub of the yacht, with a deck jacuzzi for cooling off and an inviting spread of sunpads.
Special Features
With the goal of taking their young family on an extended around-the-world trip, her current owners installed twin sets of bunk beds in the original VIP cabin, a small nanny/teacher’s cabin and a main deck library.
