Garcon is a 67.15m motor yacht delivered by Dutch shipyard Damen Yachting in 2012. Her naval architecture and exterior design comes from the drawing boards of Damen Yachting.

Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement steel hull and a steel/aluminium superstructure she features a 11.5m beam and a 4m draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 1,128 GT (Gross Tonnes). The design also incorporates a heli-pad.
This was the sixty-seventh yacht built on the YS 6711 design. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. Launched in July 2012 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in September 2012.
Exterior Design
Garçon makes no attempt to disguise what she is. The bridge and accommodation block sit well forward, leaving almost the entire length behind them as working deck, and the fine Sea Axe bow gives the vessel a very different stance from a conventional superyacht.
That bow is more than a bit of visual theatre. Damen developed the Sea Axe form from its offshore vessels, with the narrow entry intended to reduce vertical acceleration and help the hull maintain speed in rougher water. On a support yacht expected to keep pace with a mothership rather than simply arrive at the next anchorage eventually, that does a lot of the heavy lifting.
The aft end is dominated by the helicopter deck, while the long section immediately forward carries an impressive mix of tenders, PWCs and other equipment. Cranes are positioned within easy reach of the water and there is still clear working space between the different loads, so launching one toy does not require half the deck to be unpacked first.
Garçon has around 360m² (3,875ft²) of exterior deck space, and very little of it is there just for show. The helipad is certified for helicopters with a maximum take-off weight of 5,000kg, while the remainder of the deck can be configured around whatever the mothership's programme requires.
The wheelhouse has also been pushed right forward, giving the bridge a clear view over the bow while keeping the accommodation and command spaces out of the main working zone. It is a simple bit of thinking, but it pays dividends when several boats, aircraft and deck crews are all operating at once.
Support & Operations
Around 360m² (3,875ft²) of open deck is supplemented by approximately 140m² (1,507ft²) of interior deck space, giving the crew somewhere to store and support equipment without leaving everything exposed to the weather.
The aerial photographs show just how much can be carried at once. Several sizeable tenders occupy the centreline and side decks, with PWCs packed alongside, while the helipad remains clear at the stern. That flexibility is where a yacht like this earns its keep.
The certified helipad adds another layer to the operation. With a 5,000kg maximum take-off weight, Garçon can support a substantial helicopter rather than being limited to the lightest machines, and the location aft gives a clear operating area away from the mast and bridge.
This is also where the Sea Axe concept makes sense in ownership terms. A support vessel carrying valuable tenders, aircraft and specialist crew is only useful if it can stay with the main yacht through less-than-perfect conditions. The hull form was developed specifically to keep speed up without giving everyone aboard a hammering.
Accommodation
Garçon accommodates up to 10 guests in five suites, with space for up to 21 crew and staff.
That guest capacity is useful, but it is not really the point of the vessel. The larger story is what those additional cabins allow the mothership to move off its own accommodation plan. Pilots, dive teams, water-sports staff, technicians or extra crew can live aboard Garçon rather than taking up cabins intended for owners and guests.
The relatively large personnel capacity also makes sense alongside the amount of machinery and equipment carried outside. Running helicopters, tenders, PWCs and other specialist kit takes people as well as deck space, and Garçon was designed with both sides of that equation in mind.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by 4 x diesel Caterpillar (3512C) 1,910hp engines running at 1600rpm, motor yacht Garcon is capable of reaching a top speed of 20 knots, and comfortably cruises at 15 knots.
