Damen Yachting launches custom 75m Hybrid expedition yacht from Vlissingen facility

Damen Yachting has launched the custom Damen 75m Hybrid expedition yacht from its Vlissingen facility in the Netherlands. Scheduled for delivery later in 2026, the explorer yacht combines hybrid propulsion with long-range cruising capability and self-sufficient onboard systems.

Built by Damen Yachting, the 75m Damen 75m Hybrid is a custom expedition yacht with exterior styling by Michael Leach Design, owner-led interiors and naval architecture developed in-house by the Dutch builder.

Expedition styling designed for serious global cruising

With its assertive explorer profile and purposeful proportions, the superyacht is a highly capable expedition platform without sacrificing contemporary superyacht styling. Naval architecture and exterior work together to balance rugged practicality with refined modern detailing, while expansive deck areas and high-volume proportions reinforce the yacht’s long-range cruising focus. The exterior design reflects the growing demand for explorer yachts capable of supporting remote operations while still delivering the comfort and sophistication expected from a modern luxury superyacht.

Modular deck spaces built for exploration and entertainment

A defining feature of the motor yacht is its adaptable upper aft deck arrangement. Equipped with a high-capacity crane system, the yacht can launch and recover a 14.6-metre fast tender, a nine-metre utility vessel and even a car. Once cleared, the space transforms into a flexible entertainment deck capable of accommodating a modular swimming pool and open-air lounge spaces. A touch-and-go helipad further enhances the yacht’s expedition credentials, while synthetic teak decking was selected throughout the exterior spaces as a more durable and sustainable alternative to traditional teak.

The flexible configuration allows the owner to alternate between expedition-focused operations and guest entertainment depending on the itinerary, reinforcing the yacht’s dual-purpose design philosophy.

Self-sufficient interiors tailored for long-range cruising

Interior spaces aboard the yacht were developed around the owner’s vision for extended autonomous cruising. Accommodation is arranged for up to 12 guests, including a private owner’s deck and VIP suite, alongside quarters for up to 24 crew. One of the project’s standout features is the integration of commercial-grade cultivation pods capable of growing fresh vegtables onboard, reducing reliance on shoreside provisioning during longer voyages. Designed to support long stays away from traditional marinas and supply hubs, the interior concept prioritises practicality, comfort and independence at sea. The onboard cultivation systems are particularly unusual within the superyacht sector and reflect the owner’s focus on sustainability and long-term autonomous cruising.

Hybrid propulsion supports low-impact operation

Powered by twin main engines supported by hybrid PTI/PTO electric drives, the Damen 75m Hybrid is capable of near-silent operation and zero-emission cruising in environmentally sensitive areas. A substantial onboard battery bank supports operation both at anchor and in port, while additional containerised battery units can be used to extend energy reserves during longer expeditions. The yacht also features at-anchor stabilisers and an impressive 1,567GT of interior volume designed for long-distance living.
