Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement w/ bulbous bow steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 8.6m beam and a 3m draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 499 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Construction started in early 2025. This was the first yacht built on the Crossover 47 design.
Exterior Design
The first Columbus Crossover 47 takes the same aft-deck-first idea seen on the Columbus Crossover 42 and scales it into a larger 47m (154.2ft), 475GT yacht. The result is still very much part of the Crossover line, with a strong explorer stance, a long working stern and the deck space to carry serious toys, but with more beam, more guest volume and a broader long-range brief.
Hydro Tec’s design gives the yacht a high, upright bow, a full-displacement steel hull and a bulbous bow for range and sea-kindliness. The forward sections are tall and clean, with much of the visual mass held toward the bow, which is a common trait on explorer yachts built for long passages. The lines are sharp rather than soft, and the black glass bands cut through the white topsides to make the yacht look longer and lower than the volume suggests.
The aft deck is the heart of the concept. At sea, it can carry a tender weighing up to 3,000kg, launched by a crane built into the aft end of the upper deck. Once the tender is away, the same space can change into a large open-air lounge with a jacuzzi, sunpads and direct access to the water. Fold-down bulwarks add beam at anchor and turn what could have been a work deck into a broad sea terrace.
The stern has a more layered feel than a typical explorer yacht cockpit. The jacuzzi sits low and close to the swim platform, with wide teak decks around it and open space for loose furniture. It gives the yacht a strong beach club focus without losing the cargo-deck use that defines the Crossover line.
Above, the upper deck and sundeck add the more familiar superyacht spaces. The upper deck has room for al fresco dining and a lounge aft, while the sundeck sits under a large hardtop and can include a bar and hot tub. The foredeck also provides a private lounge space away from the main aft deck, which helps spread guests across the yacht rather than placing all outdoor life at the stern.
With a beam of 8.6m (28.2ft), a draft of 2.7m (8.9ft) and a range of 5,000 nautical miles at 10 knots, the Columbus Crossover 47 is set up for more than short coastal use. It has the deck room of a toy carrier, the hull form of a long-range displacement yacht and enough guest space to keep the yacht from feeling like a support vessel with cabins added later.
Interior Design
Hot Lab is responsible for the interior of the first Columbus Crossover 47, though full decor details have not yet been made public. The layout itself tells much of the story. This is a yacht built for owners who want the deck freedom of an explorer, but still expect the comfort and order of a full superyacht interior.
The main deck is centred around a large lounge and dining area, with space for up to 12 guests at the table. The main saloon links closely to the aft deck, which makes sense on a yacht where much of the day is likely to revolve around the stern, tenders and water access.
The galley is placed forward on the port side of the main deck. It is a practical choice for service, with a short route aft to the indoor dining area and up to the upper deck for al fresco meals. On a yacht built for long passages and remote use, this sort of layout detail matters more than decorative drama.
The upper deck adds a second indoor lounge and entertainment space, separate from the main saloon below. This gives guests another place to gather when weather turns, or when part of the group wants a quieter space away from the main deck. The helm sits forward on the same deck, with the captain’s cabin close by, which keeps the working heart of the yacht in the right place for long-range use.
Accommodation
The Columbus Crossover 47 accommodates up to 12 guests in six cabins, with crew space for up to 10 across five cabins.
The owner’s suite sits on the main deck, taking the full 8.6m (28.2ft) beam. The layout includes a central bed, wardrobe space, vanity desk and office area, while the en suite bathroom has a central shower. The main deck position gives the owner more light, better views and a stronger sense of privacy than a lower deck cabin could offer.
Guest accommodation is on the lower deck. The plan includes two double cabins and two twin cabins, with each twin cabin fitted with an extra Pullman berth. This gives the yacht its 12-guest capacity without forcing every cabin into the same format, so the layout can work for families, couples or mixed groups.
Four crew cabins sit on the lower deck, while the captain’s cabin is placed on the upper deck beside the wheelhouse. That is a sound choice for a yacht with a 5,000 nautical mile range, since the captain remains close to the bridge and the rest of the crew accommodation stays separate from guest spaces.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (C32) 1,301hp engines, motor yacht Crossover 47/01 is capable of reaching a top speed of 15 knots, and comfortably cruises at 12 knots. She has a maximum range of 5,000 nautical miles at an economic speed of 10 knots.
