The 60m Amels 60 was floated out on Saturday, 31 January, from Damen’s Vlissingen City facility in the Netherlands and will now enter final outfitting and sea trials ahead of delivery later this year.
The Amels yacht, known as hull 6009, was sold just weeks prior to launch. Construction began on speculation in 2023, continuing Amels’ Limited Editions approach, where yachts progress through build with proven engineering before being finalized in close coordination with the owner.
First Amels launch of 2026 at Vlissingen
The launch represents an early milestone for Damen Yachting this year, and underlines continued demand for the Amels 60 platform. With the yacht now outside the build hall, attention turns to outfitting, commissioning, and performance testing, with delivery scheduled for 2026.
The Amels 60 was first introduced in 2019 and has since become one of the shipyard’s most established series. This latest unit is the ninth hull in the model line, following sisterships such as Come Together and Entourage, the latter of which received a Neptune Award at the World Superyacht Awards.
Winch Design returns for Amels 60 interiors
Interiors for this Amels 60 have been developed by Winch Design, marking the studio’s 21st collaboration with Amels and its fourth Amels 60 project. While the platform and layout are well proven, the interior concept has been tailored to suit the new owner’s preferences.
Winch Design has developed what it describes as a coastal calm theme with a Pacific Islands influence. The design language shifts subtly across the yacht’s decks, using changes in color and tone to create a sense of progression through the spaces.
On the swimming platform level, sand-based colorways set a relaxed, beach-focused mood. At sea level, the palette moves toward tranquil blues, while the bridge deck of the superyacht adopts seasonal reds, greens, and warm golden hues, intended to evoke the sensation of looking down through treetops.
With outfitting now underway, the owner’s team will continue to work alongside the shipyard and designers to introduce final personal details. This stage is a key part of the Amels Limited Editions model, where owners are able to tailor interior finishes and selected layouts while benefiting from a fixed technical platform.
Espen Øino exterior and hybrid propulsion
The yacht carries exterior styling by Espen Øino, whose work has defined the Amels 60 since its debut. The profile is characterized by strong horizontal lines and the series’ signature trapezoid windows, which bring light into the main deck spaces while maintaining a purposeful, modern look.
Naval architecture has been developed in-house by Damen Yachting, building on a hull form that has now been tested across multiple deliveries. As with other motor yachts in the series, the latest Amels 60 is equipped with a hybrid propulsion system designed to reduce fuel consumption, improve range efficiency, and enhance onboard comfort.
"This latest launch and sale reflect the yachting market's strong appetite for sustainable, versatile superyachts that combine proven pedigree with next-generation technology."
- Rob Luijendijk, Commercial Director Damen Yachting
The hybrid setup supports quieter operation and more efficient energy management, particularly during low-speed cruising and at anchor. These characteristics have become increasingly important for owners planning extended itineraries and time spent in environmentally sensitive cruising areas.
A larger Limited Editions option - the Amels 80
According to YachtBuyer MarketWatch, the largest yacht database in the world, Amels currently has 9 yachts either in build or on order. Alongside the Amels 60, the larger Amels 80 is also in production, positioned as the flagship of the Limited Editions range. At 80m, she offers a clear step up in scale, volume, and long-range capability compared to the 60m platform.
Built with a steel hull and aluminum superstructure, the Amels 80 delivers a significantly higher interior gross tonnage at 2,175 GT versus the Amels 60’s 853 GT. Guest capacity increases from 12 to 14 across seven cabins, supported by accommodation for up to 23 crew, making her better suited to larger parties and longer voyages.
The Amels 80 also shifts from hybrid-assisted cruising to a full displacement hull optimized for fuel efficiency and low underwater noise, with a reported range of up to 5,000 nautical miles. For owners weighing size against operational reach, the Amels 80 represents a more ocean-focused alternative within the same proven Limited Editions framework.
With hull 6009 now in outfitting and sea trials, the Amels 60 continues to underline the strength and depth of Damen Yachting’s Limited Editions lineup.
