Designed by Espen Øino with interiors by Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design, the Amels 80 represents the first collaboration between the two studios. Damen Yachting handled naval architecture and engineering in-house.
A Milestone Build for Damen Yachting
Construction began on speculation, with the yacht sold just six months after work commenced. The sale was officially announced at the 2022 Monaco Yacht Show, and delivery follows successful sea trials held earlier this year.
Brokerage firm Burgess introduced the owner and acted as representative throughout the build. Sean Bianchi, head of Burgess new construction, described the Amels yacht as “one of the standout deliveries of 2025,” highlighting the owner’s direct involvement in the design development.
Espen Øino’s Architectural Approach
The Amels 80 spans 2,175 gross tons, with exterior styling characterized by strong, modern lines that Espen Øino described as built to stand the test of time. Her layout has been designed to balance large social areas with private retreats across multiple decks.
At the stern of the superyacht, a 6.5-meter swimming pool forms the centerpiece of the main deck, featuring transparent floor sections that filter light into the beach club below. The expansive beach club includes three opening sea terraces, creating a semi-enclosed lounge at water level alongside a spa, sauna, gym, Hammam, and massage room.
A generous aft platform provides direct access to the sea, while the 200-square-meter sundeck above delivers one of the largest outdoor spaces in the yacht's class. The deck features a forward Jacuzzi surrounded by sunpads, a shaded bar amidships, and an open dining area aft designed for relaxed family meals or evening gatherings.
A Calming, Nature-Inspired Interior
Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design was tasked with developing an interior that draws inspiration from nature, using materials in their purest form. Lead designer Paul Costerus described the approach as “treating materials so that their natural characteristics remain as pure as possible.”
The owner’s area includes a full-beam suite, dual bathrooms, a private study, and a lounge with a breakfast nook and library. Floor-to-ceiling glass ensures an open connection with the sea, while the decor integrates marble surfaces, precious metal inlays, and woven meshes for subtle texture.
The Amels 80 hybrid propulsion system allows for reduced fuel consumption and quieter operation at lower speeds, ideal for coastal passages and sensitive environments. Performance figures indicate a range of 5,000 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 12 knots, positioning the motor yacht for long-range exploration as well as comfortable Mediterranean operation.

The Amels 60: Continuing the Line’s Success
According to YachtBuyer Market Watch, the largest yacht database in the world, Amels currently has 10 yachts either in build or on order. This includes several builds of the Amels 60, also designed by Espen Øino. The 60-meter model succeeds the yard’s long-running Amels 180 and carries Øino’s sharp, architectural profile across a tri-deck layout of 830 gross tons.
The yacht accommodates up to 12 guests in six cabins with quarters for 13 crew, emphasizing extended cruising capability. Equipped with Damen’s Hybrid by Amels propulsion system, the Amels 60 can reach 7 knots on electric power alone and cover 4,500 nautical miles at cruising speed. Features include a fold-out balcony for the owner’s suite, a large beach club with sea terraces, and a foredeck tender bay that converts to a touch-and-go helipad.
The delivery of Pangea marks a defining milestone for Damen Yachting, signaling the next generation of hybrid Amels yachts built for range, refinement, and enduring design.
