Bow ramp and rugged profile shape the Arksen 55
Designed by Jarkko Jämsén, with engineering by Arksen and Aivan, the new yacht has been developed around the builder's adventure-focused approach, with its marine-grade aluminium construction and functional profile prioritising durability and practical use. The first hull is being built by Kewatec, a specialist in high-performance professional vessels including rescue and first responder craft. A bow ramp provides direct access to beaches and shorelines, while integrated equipment storage and full-length fendering reflect the model's emphasis on active cruising. Owners can choose between bare aluminium, a conventional painted finish or a protective Raptor finish.
Flexible decks turn the yacht into an adventure basecamp
Equipment carrying capacity plays a central role in the motor yacht's design, with packages available for dive equipment, kayaks, research gear and motorcycles. An onboard crane supports the handling of equipment and supplies, while the bow ramp creates another route on and off the yacht away from the aft deck. Opening side windows and an aft window that can open through 90 degrees connect the saloon with the exterior, creating a more open main-deck arrangement when conditions allow. Optional features include additional solar panels, a retractable electric skylight and a roof tent.
Full-beam pilothouse leads an adaptable interior
The main deck is centred around a full-beam pilothouse incorporating navigation, dining and raised seating, with a four-door arrangement and dual side walkways designed to keep movement through the boat clear. Seating can be configured in either a U-shaped arrangement or an L-shaped layout with additional galley space. Below deck, a utility area incorporates the galley and workshop alongside modular equipment storage, a drying cabinet and domestic appliances. Flexible accommodation can sleep between four and eight people, with a forward double cabin and private bathroom complemented by adaptable aft sleeping arrangements. Skylights, sea views and standing headroom are also incorporated into the lower-deck spaces.
50-knot performance meets three propulsion configurations
The Arksen 55 uses a double-stepped deep-V hull and is constructed from marine-grade aluminium, with the yacht engineered to comply with ISO 12215 and specified as ISO Category B. A 3,200-litre fuel capacity supports a quoted range of 350 nautical miles at 25 to 30 knots, while a light-load sprint speed of 50 knots is also claimed. Standard propulsion comprises four Yamaha F450 XTO outboards, with three Mercury V12 600 outboards or three Volvo Penta D6 440hp DPI inboards available as alternatives, giving owners a choice between outboard and inboard configurations.
Arksen continues to develop its adventure and explorer ranges
The Arksen 55 joins a portfolio spanning smaller discovery yachts and the builder's larger Explorer Series. The latter currently includes the Arksen 65, 75 and 85, with the 27m Arksen 85 offering a useful contrast to the new model through its focus on long-distance cruising and a quoted range of 7,000 nautical miles.
