On Deck
The Bering 60 Catamaran is still in build, but even at this stage, the exterior presence is striking. With a high freeboard and strong aluminium hull construction, the boat presents more like a compact explorer than a conventional 60ft catamaran. The bow has a pronounced curve, which increases deck space forward and helps with sea-keeping. Deep sponsons and a high tunnel allow for smoother passages in rougher waters, with enough clearance to minimise belly slap in all but the most extreme conditions.
Aft, the yacht features a full-beam swim platform that links both sugar scoops, creating a generous beach club area with room for water toys and relaxed lounging. Twin doors lead into a lazarette that runs from port to starboard. The entire platform can lift up to the level of the cockpit, extending the aft deck dramatically and making it possible to reconfigure the space as a larger entertainment zone.
Side decks are wide and well-protected, with raised bulwarks forward for better security underway. The build includes twin staircases from the swim platform to the main deck, with future railings and safety features still to be added. At the bow, two L-shaped settees with integrated storage will form a forward social space. Anchor lockers and crash compartments are built into the hulls for safety and extra storage, while large windows and negative-rake windscreens mark the yacht’s purposeful look.
The flybridge can be delivered as either an enclosed sky lounge or left open, depending on owner preference. The enclosed version includes a large boat deck with space for a tender and crane, or it can be repurposed as an open lounge. The roofline offers potential for significant solar panel coverage. With massive windows, excellent sightlines, and enough elevation to match some 21.3m (70ft) yachts, the flybridge delivers serious command presence for extended cruising.
Interior Accommodation
The main deck interior spans a 47 m² saloon linked by doors at both ends, creating a continuous flow between aft cockpit and foredeck. The aft galley doubles as a bar, and large panoramic windows deliver expansive views throughout. The layout places galley and lounge near the cockpit, with a forward dining area and portside internal helm.
Ceiling height exceeds 2.13m (7ft) throughout. During this build stage, there’s no sub-ceiling or floor yet, but the volume already feels closer to that of a 21.3m (70ft) yacht. Behind wall panels and underfoot lie large structural tanks and routing for systems - storage space, air-conditioning units, battery banks and cabling will be housed within these deep cavities. The flybridge version offers 110GT of enclosed space, while the tri-deck model increases volume to 121GT.
Owner's Cabin
Depending on layout choice, the five-cabin version includes a larger owner's suite with ensuite bathroom and walk-in wardrobe in the port hull. The structure enables full-height ceilings even in the inboard section, eliminating the low inner deck often seen in other cats. Hull windows flood the cabin with light, and placement aft in the hull offers privacy and space.
Guest Accommodation
Owners can choose between four, five, or six guest cabin layouts. All cabins are similar in size in the four- and six-cabin versions, while the five-cabin arrangement introduces a more luxurious owner's suite. Each stateroom includes full ceiling height and large hull windows, with ensuites and storage as standard. The design takes advantage of the catamaran's height to create fully usable inboard spaces, which are typically sacrificed on other multihulls. Some midship cabins even incorporate machinery trays or systems spaces underneath without compromising comfort.
Performance
The twin engine rooms sit aft in each hull and are some of the largest seen on a cat of this size. Accessed via oversized hatches, the compartment is deep and spacious with full standing headroom. The starboard side includes a housed passerelle, while the port side gains even more internal volume. Systems space includes trays for water pumps, air-conditioning, generators, watermakers, and storage for additional freezers or equipment.
The yacht features structural tanks - welded directly into the aluminium framework - offering long-term durability and protection from leaks. These tanks are designed for water and fuel, with internal coatings and inspection hatches. Aluminium insulation mounts throughout the hull will support extensive soundproofing.
Powered by modest diesel engines, the Bering 60 Cat reaches a top speed of 12-13 knots. But her design favours range over speed. With 10,000-litre fuel capacity, she’s expected to cruise up to 3,000 nautical miles at 10 knots, making trans-oceanic travel possible.
In Summary
Still under construction, the Bering 60 Catamaran is already shaping up to be a serious long-range explorer in a 60ft package. With full aluminium construction, high tunnel clearance, a proper beach club, and multiple guest cabin configurations, it pushes well beyond the norms of a typical cruising cat. Every detail - from structural tanks and deep bilges to panoramic salon views and oversized flybridge - has been designed with range, comfort, and capability in mind. For owners seeking a strong, semi-custom cat with global cruising ambitions, this one is worth watching closely as it moves toward completion.
