  • 4-cabin, 10-guest accommodation layout
  • Ribbed galley bar with hidden appliances
  • Thermally resistant panoramic glazing

Design & Construction

Designed around a planing GRP hull and superstructure she features a 6.8m beam and a 1.29m draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 168 GT (Gross Tonnes).

This was the first yacht built on the AB 110 design. Launched in June 2024 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months.

Exterior Design

50 Shades of Play takes the aggressive, high-speed DNA of AB Yachts and refines it into something sharper and more architectural. The 33.7m (110.7ft) AB 110 hull carries a straighter sheerline and boxed-in superstructure than earlier AB models, which adds internal volume without losing the brand’s low, athletic stance. Finished in dark metallic paint with a white superstructure, the contrast gives the yacht a crisp monochrome look that suits the angular glazing and long horizontal lines.

Large sections of thermally resistant lightweight glass dominate the superstructure. Besides flooding the interior with light, the glazing reduces UV transfer and lowers air-conditioning demand. At night, integrated RGBW lighting bars built into the coachroof lines and underwater lighting across the transom and hull sides give the yacht a dramatic presence at anchor.

The flybridge is wrapped in teak and accessed by sculptural carbon-fibre staircases rising from either side of the aft cockpit. Up top, the layout combines a mini helm station, lounge seating, sunpads and open sightlines across the water. Carbon poles support adjustable mesh-fabric sunshades across the flydeck, aft deck and bow seating zones.

Forward, the raised bow lounge acts almost like a floating terrace. Electrically adjustable tables allow the area to shift between dining and sunpad use, while the elevated position gives uninterrupted forward views underway.

At the stern, the yacht’s 17m² beach club transforms through a hydraulic teak-clad platform system that conceals the tender garage beneath. The arrangement stores a 4.5m tender and a three-person jet ski directly behind the water-level lounging area, so the whole aft section remains clean and open when the toys are deployed.

Interior Design

The interior, designed by Marco Casamonti of Archea Associati, follows the same sharp geometry as the exterior but softens it through texture, lighting and material choice. Teak decking runs continuously between the saloon and aft cockpit, helping the entire main deck function as one large social space when the full-height sliding windows are opened.

The main saloon feels light and understated rather than heavy or formal. Deep blue lounge chairs add contrast against softer neutral finishes, while recessed LED lighting hidden within ceilings, stairways and furniture bases creates a quieter evening atmosphere.

A sculptural floating galley bar becomes the centrepiece of the saloon. Ribbed detailing, a floating-effect base and near-seamless countertop give it an almost architectural feel. The cabinetry conceals a substantial appliance package that includes Miele and Liebherr refrigeration, induction hob, oven, freezer, icemaker and a 30-bottle wine cooler.

Forward, the wheelhouse is fully digital. Four Garmin 24-inch ultrawide touchscreens sit beneath one continuous glass panel, joined by two additional 28-inch displays integrated into the lower console. SEAS Yacht software manages navigation, automation, CCTV and monitoring systems through a single interface, giving the helm an unusually clean appearance for a yacht capable of 43 knots.

Accommodation

50 Shades of Play accommodates up to 10 guests across four lower-deck cabins, alongside accommodation for four crew in two crew cabins.

The full-beam owner’s suite sits amidships in the yacht’s most stable section. Grey leather finishes, warm mirrored surfaces and softer fabrics keep the room calm and contemporary. The suite includes extensive wardrobe space, an en suite bathroom and integrated entertainment controls.

Forward, the VIP cabin includes its own en suite bathroom and 55-inch television, while the two guest cabins use sliding and folding bed systems that allow the layout to shift between double and twin arrangements depending on guest needs.

All guest cabins include electric blackout blinds, integrated AV systems and dedicated bathrooms. A separate day head sits on the main deck.

Crew accommodation includes two twin cabins with shared bathroom facilities, plus a dedicated crew mess with refrigerator, microwave and a 15-inch monitoring display linked into the yacht’s systems network. Separate laundry facilities include two washing machines and two dryers.

Performance & Capabilities

Powered by 3 x diesel MAN (12V 2000) 2,000hp engines, motor yacht 50 Shades of Play is capable of reaching a top speed of 43 knots, and comfortably cruises at 38 knots. With her 11,500 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 460 nautical miles at 38 knots. Her planing hull design means she is fast and efficient as she slices through the water.
