Next-Gen Azimut Fly 53 Yacht to Make Show Debut at Sydney International On-Water Boat Show 2025

The  Azimut Fly 53 will make its Australian premiere at the Sydney International On-Water Boat Show 2025.

Positioned as the entry point into the Azimut Fly range, the 17m yacht brings the distinctive approach by Azimut to design and performance to Australian waters for the first time.

Improved Streamlined Lines

The Azimut Fly 53 represents the shared vision of designer Alberto Mancini and Azimut’s in-house technical team. Mancini’s exterior design gives the yacht an unmistakable sense of motion, with sharp, aerodynamic lines, a pronounced sheer, and a darkened flybridge screen that runs nearly the full perimeter of the upper deck. The result is a low, dynamic profile that visually lightens the yacht while maximizing interior volume.

Constructed from GRP with a planing hull, the Fly 53 delivers a confident, solid ride. The design’s balance between structure and weight enables efficient cruising and responsive handling, while its use of modern glazing creates an almost uninterrupted visual link between the interior and sea. Winner of the World Yachts Trophies 2021 for Best Exterior Design in the 14-18m category, the Fly 53 stands as one of the most refined and well-proportioned flybridge yachts in its class.

Azimut’s Signature Interior Style

Inside, the Fly 53 continues Azimut’s signature approach to space and light. The main deck of the motor yacht layout follows the builder’s galley-aft arrangement, connecting the cockpit and saloon to form a single, flowing social area. The galley stretches across the beam and features concealed cabinetry, full-height refrigeration, and thoughtful storage, giving the space both practicality and elegance.

Forward, the saloon’s facing sofas and clean-lined furnishings create a bright, relaxing environment. Large, single-piece windows on either side immerse guests in open water views, while a low-profile window line enhances the yacht’s sleek exterior. The interior finish can be specified in light, Scandinavian-inspired tones or with warmer oak and copper detailing, giving owners the option to tailor the aesthetic to their taste.

Below deck, the Fly 53 offers three cabins and accommodation for up to six guests, with a separate crew cabin for one. The full-beam owner’s stateroom includes a walk-in wardrobe, sofa, and ensuite bathroom positioned forward of the berth. Two additional guest cabins - a twin and a VIP - complete the lower accommodation.

Designed for Life Outdoors

The yacht’s outdoor spaces are designed for sociable cruising. The flybridge, shaped around circular seating, includes a forward sunpad, wraparound dining area, and a wet bar. Buyers can choose between a canvas bimini or a hardtop with integrated lighting and a sliding roof panel.

The main deck cockpit extends the interior’s easy flow with a dining table, aft seating, and access to the hydraulic bathing platform. At the bow, a dedicated lounge area provides both seating and a sunpad, creating a private retreat while at anchor.

Powered by twin Volvo Penta D11-IPS950 engines, the Fly 53 reaches a top speed of 31 knots and cruises comfortably at around 26 knots. The IPS system provides precise joystick control, making docking straightforward even in confined marinas. Range at cruising speed sits around 265 to 300 nautical miles, supported by a fuel capacity of 2,400 liters.

Expanding Azimut’s Range Appeal

Several Azimut models have been YachtBuyer reviewed, each revealing the brand’s balance of design and practicality. Another standout is the Magellano 60, which, like the Fly 53, earned a 4.5-star rating. Designed by Ken Freivokh, this 18.47-meter crossover adopts Azimut’s Dual Mode hull for long-range cruising, delivering a top speed of 26 knots and a range of over 800 nautical miles.

The warm, modern interior and extended flybridge underline a more explorer-minded philosophy, pairing comfort and efficiency for owners who value endurance over outright speed.

Whether buyers prioritize performance or passage-making comfort, Azimut’s latest models confirm its standing as one of the most design-conscious and technically accomplished names in contemporary yachting.
