Delivered from Benetti's historic Viareggio facility, the latest Benetti Class 44M unit continues a model line designed by Cassetta Yacht Designers and highlights the shipyard's ongoing commitment to custom and semi-custom superyacht construction in one of Italy's most established yacht-building regions.
The launch also marked the announcement of a new €100 million investment program that will support the continued expansion of the Azimut|Benetti Group's superyacht operations across Tuscany through 2028.
A Historic Launch for the Class 44M
The launch was carried out using the traditional slipway method, a ceremony deeply rooted in Italian shipbuilding history. While increasingly uncommon in modern yacht construction, the process remains an important part of Benetti's heritage and reflects the long-standing relationship between the shipyard and the maritime culture of Viareggio.
Lumina is the latest yacht in the Benetti Class 44M series, a four-deck platform developed to balance long-range cruising capability with spacious guest accommodations. The yacht features exterior styling and design by Cassetta Yacht Designers, with a layout focused on privacy, comfort, and bright interior spaces.
According to Benetti, delivery is scheduled for summer 2026.
Tuscany Remains Central to Benetti's Growth
The launch of the yacht also served as an opportunity for the Azimut|Benetti Group to outline its next phase of investment in Tuscany, where the company operates 14 industrial sites across Viareggio, Livorno, Massa, and Pisa.
The region remains the operational center of the Group's superyacht division, accounting for approximately 70 percent of its global business activity. The announcement follows a period of significant growth for the company, with production value increasing from €758 million in 2020 to €1.56 billion in 2025.
Over the same period, Benetti and the wider Group have expanded their engineering, manufacturing, and technical capabilities to support increasing demand for larger and more complex motor yacht projects.
A €100 Million Development Program
The newly announced investment plan covers the period from 2026 to 2028 and follows €77 million already invested across Tuscany during the previous three years. The funding will be directed toward several areas of the business, including the expansion of production facilities, the introduction of additional lifting and handling infrastructure, and upgrades to manufacturing and safety systems.
The Group also plans further investment in energy efficiency initiatives, including the installation of photovoltaic systems at key sites. Additional projects will focus on executive offices, client reception facilities, product development, and the continued growth of Lusben, the company's dedicated refit division.
Between 2020 and 2026, direct employment across the Group's Tuscan operations increased from 442 to 607 employees. The broader regional network supporting production has also expanded substantially, with approximately 3,800 people now working daily across the Group's sites and supply chain.
According to YachtBuyer MarketWatch, the largest yacht database in the world, Benetti currently has 55 yachts either in build or on order. This includes units of the B.Now 52m series and the Oasis 42m series.
