Fifth Mangusta Oceano 39 Superyacht Launched with Custom M2Atelier Interior

Italian shipyard Mangusta has launched the fifth 39m Mangusta Oceano 39 superyacht at its Viareggio facility.

Interior design for the newly launched Mangusta Oceano 39 was commissioned from Italian studio M2Atelier, following the owner’s request for a personalized onboard environment. Developed alongside Overmarine Group’s engineering department, the yacht's exterior was designed by Alberto Mancini.

Minimalist Exterior Styling by Alberto Mancini

The exterior design of the Oceano 39 was created by Italian designer Alberto Mancini, whose work gives the yacht a streamlined and contemporary profile. Minimalist surfaces, elongated proportions, and carefully integrated glazing form the basis of the yacht’s visual identity.

A distinctive element of the design is the use of glazed gunwales along the upper deck. This feature reduces visual bulk and improves outward views from interior areas, while also contributing to the yacht’s modern aesthetic.

With its timeless charm, the Mangusta Oceano 39 can truly be described as a 'miniature mega-yacht', designed and built with painstaking care and meticulous attention down to the tiniest detail."

- Nicolò Strocco, Mangusta Sales Manager

The series also includes several signature features that have become closely associated with Mangusta’s Oceano range. Among them is the beach house-style aft area, positioned at water level and equipped with opening side terraces. When deployed, these terraces extend the usable deck space directly over the sea, creating a large waterfront leisure area.

Tailored Interior Design Led by M2Atelier

While full details of the interior remain private, the involvement of Milan-based studio M2Atelier signals a tailored approach shaped around the owner’s preferences. The motor yacht was commissioned by an experienced yacht owner described by the shipyard as a “passionate navigator,” suggesting the layout and styling were guided by practical cruising experience as well as aesthetic considerations.

Across the Oceano 39 platform, interior spaces are structured around natural light and unobstructed views. Large floor-to-ceiling windows run along the main and upper decks, creating bright interior lounges that remain visually connected to the sea throughout the superyacht.

One of the defining architectural features of the model is the bow infinity pool, which includes a partially glass bottom that filters natural light down into the owner’s suite below. This detail adds a visual focal point while reinforcing the series’ emphasis on open sightlines and daylight.

Despite being the smallest model in the Oceano displacement line, the 39-meter platform carries a substantial internal volume of around 330 gross tons. This scale allows the yacht to incorporate features more often associated with larger vessels. The forward owner’s suite benefits from the light filtering through the glass-bottom pool above, while guest areas across the main and lower decks provide comfortable private spaces for extended cruising.

Propulsion and Technical Platform

The fifth Oceano 39 is powered by twin MTU 16V 2000 M96L engines, each producing 2,600 horsepower. This propulsion package delivers a reported top speed of 19 knots and a cruising speed of 16 knots. These figures place the yacht within the performance range expected for a displacement-focused superyacht of this size, balancing efficiency and comfort with the ability to cover longer cruising distances.

The Oceano 39 platform was developed through collaboration between Mangusta’s engineering department and Alberto Mancini, with a focus on maximizing onboard volume while maintaining a slender exterior profile.

The Oceano 39 in Context

The Oceano 39 serves as the entry point the Mangusta Oceano range, but it already carries many of the design ideas that define the larger models. Like the Mangusta Oceano 44 above it, the 39 pairs Alberto Mancini’s contemporary exterior lines with a strong focus on natural light, open views, and close contact with the water through features such as its beach club and forward pool.

Stepping up to the 44.47m Oceano 44 brings a steel and aluminum platform with greater guest capacity, longer range, and more elaborate onboard features. In our in-depth YachtBuyer review, standout elements included the owner’s fold-down balcony, two hot tubs, an exceptional beach club, and a range of 4,500 nautical miles, giving the model a more overt long-distance cruising brief.

At the top of the line, the 60m Mangusta Oceano 60 pushes the same concept further still as the flagship of the series. With five cabins for up to 12 guests, a steel hull, and a 4,500nm range, it takes the Oceano formula into a much larger, more ocean-capable format.

The latest launch marks another milestone for the Oceano 39 range, which first entered the water in 2023 with the delivery of the inaugural hull, Multiple. The fourth unit followed in June 2025, and the addition of this fifth yacht underlines the continued demand for the model in the international market.
